When we stop in front of the new building, I look up at the glass monstrosity.

“You weren’t kidding when you said you went modern.”

“It works here. I had to do something that fits in with the rest of the city.”

I nod and we walk in through tall glass doors. Michelle has taken care of everything over here, and our business is booming. We have seamstresses in both locations now, with Michelle taking care of orders from the States and me dealing with Europe.

When we walk into sleek offices, a large office chair faces the window.

“Natalie,” Michelle says, and the chair swivels to face us.

“Raven!” she cries out. She jumps up to hug me. “Oh, you’re here! I can’t believe it.”

I laugh, happy to see her, too.

“How are things working out for you?” I ask. “You’re doing okay here?”

“More than okay,” she says, nodding. “It’s not quite a month, but I think I’m figuring out.”

Michelle snorts. “She’s being modest. Natalie is a whiz.”

Natalie blushes. “I’m not that—”

“You are,” Michelle interrupts her. “Seriously, she runs this office with her eyes closed, and we haven’t had a single hitch since she came on board.”

“I’m so happy to hear that,” I say and smile at Natalie.

“Thank you for recommending me, Raven,” Natalie says. “It changed everything.”

“You’re more than welcome,” I say. “We needed someone who knows what she’s doing, and if anyone knows what it’s like to juggle a million different tasks, take care of the whole company, and make supper too…it’s a mom.”

We all laugh before Michelle, and I walk to her office to discuss business.

“Everything looks great,” I say when we wrap it up. “Better than expected.”

Michelle nods, satisfied. “I’m glad you came to see it for yourself. You know, we’re going to do this in the next four years in London and Milan, too. We’re going to conquer the fashion cities of the world.”

I laugh. “Well, we better get our asses in gear, then.”

Michelle blinks at me. “What? No resistance? You’re not going to tell me we should see how it goes and take it slow?”

“No,” I say, shaking my head. “We know what we have. We have a solid foundation and we can afford to take the risks. As long as we stay on top of things, I’m sure we’ll do just fine.”

Michelle shakes her head. “You’ve changed, you know that?”

“How?”

“You’re excited about the future and willing to take the leap.”

I chuckle. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. But it helps when you know your future is bright.”

“Something tells me you’re not talking about business anymore,” Michelle says.

I laugh and shake my head, but she’s right. I’m talking about Noah, too. About our little family.

“I have to get going,” I say. “We’re going to see Natalie and Kylie tonight for a barbeque.” I pause. “Do you want to join us?”

“I don’t want to impose.”
