“Oh.” She didn’t think he was following her. She just attributed her bumping into him to sheer luck, or lack of.

“That’s my co-judge at the UN Model,” he said, angling his head in the direction Chris had gone to.

“Yes.” She hoped he didn’t notice the catch in her voice. It was just that facing him… She recalled Aunt Sarah’s sweeping gesture at the engagement party—the whole package that was Jordan Delaney.

“Enjoy your afternoon, Hope,” he said, giving her a small, tight-lipped smile.

“Thanks. You, too,” she said when he turned to leave.

“The market?” Chris asked, remaining standing when he reached the table.

“Yes.” She hurried to get up. “The market.” Maybe it was time she and Chris took this relationship up a notch. She was obviously ready for more.
