“Come here.” He lifted her by her hand. “Stay here for me in case I fall.”
“I will.”
“Good.”
Chapter Ten
Zachary maneuvered into the shower and sighed when the hot water pounded down on his shoulders and back. Fuck, just taking a shower made him feel so much better. He scrubbed himself a few times until he felt as clean as possible before rinsing and turning off the water.
He opened the shower door and reached for the towel she held out to him.
“Thanks, babe.”
He wrapped the towel around his waist. He hopped over to the counter and stood shocked. That was the first time he’d taken a good look at his face. He ran his fingers down the pink, puckered line of skin. He looked over at Anna and saw tears in her eyes and both of her hands pressed to her mouth.
“Why are you crying? Does it look that bad?”
She shook her head. “No. I hate that you were hurt and the pain you must have felt.”
Damn, she was so sweet. He held his hand out, which she instantly took. He pulled her against his chest and wrapped his arms around her.
“Are you sure this doesn’t bother you?”
She cupped his face with her hands. “I’m positive. Nothing about you bothers me, and it never will.”
“You’re so fucking sweet. If you don’t object, I’d like to kiss you.”
She smiled. “I’d like that very much.”
He curled his hand around the back of her neck and used his thumb to lift her face. The first touch of her soft lips had him hungry for more. He kissed her face and lips again, and when he couldn’t take it anymore, he pressed his lips tighter against her and used his tongue to open her mouth.
A groan tore from his throat at the feel and taste of her. He could have stood there all day and just kissed her.
The desire climbed and was getting out of control enough that he raised his head. He groaned at his first look at her and dived back in for another kiss when he saw her flushed face, red lips, and closed eyes.
Nothing had ever felt this good, and he couldn’t imagine what it would feel like to have his cock in her.
“Baby, we have to stop.”
She blinked up at him and then used her tongue to taste him on her lips, making him moan.
“You are torturing me here, babe.”
She looked confused, and it made him smile. She would learn later that little things like that turned a man on.
He set her away from him. “Can you get me a pair of my shorts in the closet? They’re in the third drawer.”
“I’ll be right back.” She came back with black shorts and helped him pull them over the cast.
He would have stayed naked, but he knew they would likely have visitors later, and he didn’t want to make Anna even more uncomfortable.
“How about we lie down for a bit? I know I could use a nap, and I think you need some more sleep.”
“I’d like that.”
He grabbed his crutches and followed her into the bedroom. She was pulling the comforter down and then the blanket.
“Are you sure you want me in here?”
