He hugged her tightly against his chest and pressed his lips against the top of her head. She sniffed a few times but didn’t cry, and he didn’t know if that was good or not.
“How are you doing?” he asked.
“I think I’m okay. I knew it would happen like this. I think it was healthy for both of us to make this step. This way, she won’t have to spend any time being disappointed in me.”
“I think she’ll come around.”
“Maybe. She isn’t a bad person. She’s just rigid in her beliefs.”
He tipped her head up and looked in her eyes before kissing her. When they both groaned, he stopped. “I don’t want to go too far, so I think we need to stop.”
He loved the disappointment on her face because it told him she wanted him as much as he wanted her.
“It will happen with us, sweetheart. I just want it to be the perfect time.”
She studied his expression before she nodded.
He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “Let’s get some sleep. Okay?”
“Okay.”
Every day with her was getting harder and harder because he wanted his hands on her and his cock deep inside of her so badly that his body constantly ached. But he had to stand by his decision because he thought it was the best for them. He’d just have to suck it up for the time being.
Chapter Fourteen
Four days passed, and they lounged around and ate. He gained several pounds back he’d lost and was doing the exercises that he could with his cast.
They got some visitors, but it was usually just Travis and Kane. The men wanted to keep the contact at a minimum for the time being.
The intimacy between him and Anna grew by the day. He wanted to wait until his cast was off, but he didn’t think he’d be able to wait another week. He’d feel better if he could just get his hands on her.
After dinner, he helped wash the dishes. “Hey, how about a bath instead of a shower tonight?”
Her eyes widened. “Like together?”
“Yeah. You can wash my back, and I’ll wash yours,” he said.
“I … okay.”
In the bathroom, Zachary put his gun on a stool next to the bathtub, started the water, poured some bubble baths in, and then undressed. He sat on the side of the tub and pulled on the plastic over his cast. “I’ll have to keep this out of the water as much as possible.”
Then he carefully stepped into the bathtub on one leg, put his cast on the edge of a towel, and turned to see her still standing frozen.
Her shyness around him had greatly diminished, but now they had to work on her being naked in front of him.
“Baby, you don’t have to if you don’t want.”
“I want.”
“I’m not going to make love to you until this fucking cast comes off, but that doesn’t mean we can’t play.”
“It’s just that I’ll have to get naked.”
He chuckled. “Yes, that would be a good idea.”
“You’ve never seen me naked.”
“That’s true, but you’ll get used to being naked around me just like you’re used to seeing me naked.”
