The men chuckled.
“I’ll have her down here in the next hour, and you can ask her about assisting you.”
“Thanks, Doc.”
“Thank you. I think you’ll take very good care of her.”
“You better believe it,” Zachary said.
The nurse walked back in. “An orderly is coming up to get him now, Doctor.”
“Good. I need you to find Anna and call her down to this room,” Fredricks said.
Zachary watched the women’s expressions carefully.
“Wait, why? She’s needed somewhere else.”
“And I’m saying she’s needed here, Nurse.”
“Fine. I’ll help get Mr. Stone in a gown before the orderly comes up,” Val said.
Zachary shook his head. “No, I’ll have Anna help me.” He could tell she was pissed but couldn’t say anything in front of them. “Which floor is she on?” Zachary asked.
“Four.”
“I’ll have one of these guys go get her if it’s okay with you, Doctor.”
“That’s fine. It will save time.”
“I’ll find her,” Travis said and walked out of the room.
“After I get the X-ray, I’ll be back to discuss it with you.”
“Thank you,” Zachary said.
Kane helped him sit up and hang his legs over the side of the bed. Then he was helping him into one of the fucking gowns as Travis walked in, followed by Anna.
She looked so concerned it warmed his heart. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing,” Zachary said. “I just need you with me. If you’re too busy, I’ll understand.”
“What? No! I mean, no. I can help you.”
Zachary bit his lip to keep from smiling and saw his buddies were doing the same thing.
The door opened again, and a handsome young guy pulled a gurney behind him.
“Hey, Anna.”
Anna turned to the man and smiled. “Hi, Jason.”
Zachary was shocked when he felt overwhelming jealousy flood him. Oh, hell no. She was his, and he was keeping her.
“Babe, help me tie this,” Zachary said, ignoring his friends who stood off to the side, grinning.
“Of course.” She came around the back of him. She tied all the bows. “I can’t believe you’re sitting up already.”
“I’m determined to get out of here.”
