“The bond is broken.” Tegan stepped away from him. “You are no longer bound to me, Castor. You do not need to be here.”

Cord gathered her in his arms and stared down at her. “I don’t need a bond to love you.” His kiss was soft and gentle, and Tegan wrapped her arms around his neck as she kissed him back.

Cord drew back slightly. “Seems like the bond was merely waiting for us,” he said with a smile as he felt the warm tingle in his chest spread, and Tegan returned his smile, her own hand on her chest as she felt the warm familiar bond form around her heart. “Even death, no matter how brief, cannot separate us.” Cord grinned at her mischievously.

Tegan rolled her eyes at him before he folded her in his embrace. Her cheek rested on his chest, and she felt the bond grow, become tighter. More secure.

He came back.

Tegan had pulled him back and would pull him back every time from the edge of Darkness, if it came for him again, because she loved him. She would always fight for Akrhyn, for him and for them.

He may be the Mark, but she, she was his Stone.

The End
