Page 18 of Hell's Reaper

Amos moves from the wall, curls bouncing as she walks my way in the hall.

I smile a bit. “Waited for me?”

“You got lunch like me, don’t you?” She leads the way out to the lobby of the academy where a huge sign with the academy’s name sits against the wall of the stairs. I follow her outside, admiring the structure of the enormous academy. She leads us to a building that my brother labeled as a mess hall.

“How’s your wrist?” Amos asks.

I shrug. “I didn’t need to go to the nurse for it. But hitting Inarian was like hitting fucking bricks. He didn’t even talk to me the whole time. How am I supposed to find out if that hellhound has a reaper?”

She snorts. “Just ask me. I know all the ins and outs because of Miya.”

I cock a brow as we enter the beige brick building. “So, does he?”

She smirks, knowing what she’s doing. “Does he what?”

“Does he have a reaper, you ass?” I push her with my good hand.

The mess hall is set up like a normal college-looking cafeteria. Well, as normal as it can be with gray or red demons running around, and seven-foot-tall hellhounds shouting to each other. Khazon passes us with his other two hellhounds. His hounds are dressed in the black uniforms that are assigned to hellhounds, while reapers wear red.

Khazon’s eyes meet mine but lower to see the ice and wrap around my fist. His jaw tightens, but he continues on.

I let out a groan, throwing the ice out in the nearest trash bin.

Amos chuckles. “Trouble in lover paradise?”

I roll my eyes. “Khazzie is my bestie, not my lover. He just doesn’t know that we are best friends.”

“He changed after you left.”

I lick my lips, moving to the first line with Amos. “Well, he needs to just… you know, suck it the fuck up. We’ve been best friends since birth, and now he’s dating some bitch and he thinks he’s big shit.” I freeze, looking at Amos. “Sorry…At least you don’t have a shit name or your father’s looks.”

She snorts. “I agree, she’s a bitch. Mom named her. Dad named me.”

I smirk, grabbing an apple, sandwich, and energy drink. They have a lot of the Earthbound brands here, and I’m not going to ask about the trouble they go through to get it. I get to the line to pay, shoving the apple into my mouth and pulling out my wallet.

“Oh…no,” the lady says. “It’s free for the Devil and Grim Reaper’s daughters.”

I cock a brow, staring at her before pulling out a few hell coins and putting it in her hand.

Amos does the same and we both walk to an open table near the corner. “I hate the free treatment. Nothing is ever free in this world,” she says.

I set my stuff down, taking my apple out of my mouth, almost drooling. I open my mouth to speak to Amos just as some reaper pops down next to me, holding out a hundred-dollar bill. “How much to get the dance that Ledger got? This cover it?”

Cocking a brow, I stare at him. He’s not ugly by any means, but I’m not in the mood and I’m definitely not giving him a lap dance here. I take the hundred, putting it in my bra, but turning back to Amos. “Okay, you never answered my question about Inarian.”

Amos clamps her hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing.

“What about my dance?” the guy whines.

“What about it, little boy?” I snap.

He cocks a brow. “I’m not little, baby. Give me a chance to show it.”

I laugh in his face. “As if. Bye.”

His face morphs into anger quickly as his demon begins to form. “My money?”

I smirk. “There’s a fee to talk to me, little boy. Fuck out of my face before I let my demon out.” The scariest type of people are those who can’t handle rejection, and I dealt with a lot of them at the club.
