I know.I feel his stare each time he looks at me.

“I’m surprised you didn’t ask for a rematch,” Inarian finally speaks to me near the end of the class.

I glance up, ignoring how good he looks sweaty. “Huh?”

“A rematch… for me to be your hellhound. I thought you would have asked by now.”

I shrug. “No. I’m sure I can find someone else.”

He blinks. “Excuseme?”

Our eyes meet.Did that offend him?

“All that training and you don’t even want to fight me?” His hands move to his hips. My eyes drop, seeing his ivory skin peek at me. His hip has the start of a deep v, leading to his pants.

Shrugging again, I flip the pole in my hands I was using it to train.

“Tomorrow before lunch. You and me fight. If I win, you will stop asking me to be your hound.”

“I wasn’t—”

“If you win, I’ll be your hound.”

“Seems like you really want to be my hound, so just suck up your pride and say yes.”

He steps to me, glaring down at me. “Seemslike your boyfriend said something about me and I really don’t like it. You wanted me so badly, and now you won’t even look at me. Stop having men control you.”

I step into his space quickly, feeling rage run through me. “Excuse me? If I wanted you as my hound, I’d fight to get you to be my hound. No man can ever control me.”

He chuckles. “Does Ledger know that?”

“I know what you are doing and it’s not going to work.”

He shrugs. “I almost thought you were strong enough to be my reaper.”

I want to ask if he is ready for that, but my pride takes over. “Fine. Tomorrow after lunch. I’ll prove that I am worthy to be your reaper.”

His dark eyes scan my face and he just nods.

Ledger strolls into the gym wearing a tank top and shorts as the bell rings for the next class. My eyes wander down his tan frame, taking in every muscle that moves with his body. His shoulders are wide and bulging as he stretches.

Our eyes meet and he moves to me.

I swallow.

“Holy mother of…” Amos starts.

I glance at her.

“Not looking… He’s ugly anyways.”

It’s oddly satisfying that he moves straight to me.

Ledger glances at Inarian, who is walking away. “What did the ice box want?”

I shrug. “Nothing, really.”

The day goes by fast, and Hazen begins to walk me to my dorm. I barely saw Jigsaw today, which makes me a bit sad, but then we see him on the way back to my dorm. Hazen waves him down as he looks up from his phone.
