“I’m relaxed,” she argues.

“Nah, like in tune with your body.” To illustrate my point, I stretch out on the bed, folding one arm behind my head while the other skims my stomach where my t-shirt has ridden up. I’m still half-hard, the bulge obvious in my pants. She checks me out without hiding she’s doing it and satisfaction flares through me. “Comfortable in your own skin.”

“Fine. You’re the master. I’ll do this your way.”

This is really happening. My resolve buckled and I agreed to Tatum’s wild proposition, unable to resist her. Things I’ve never entertained outside of my fantasies will become a reality. I’ll have to be careful so Jackson never finds out I broke the promise I made him.

“I’ll pick you up for the bonfire.” My mouth tugs into a lazy curve and I slide my hand lower to my waistband. “Now get the fuck out of here so I can jerk off.”

NINE

TATUM

The minute Cooper finally agreed, my inner voice dropped to a low pitch as I thoughtI’m inlike I’ve cracked an encrypted code. I’ve hacked losing my virginity at last.

Except… I’m still rocking the V-card.

Okay, I need to reel it in. Cooper might be the biggest player in South Bay, but he’s doing what he thinks is best. Baby steps, that’s what this is about. I should be more appreciative that Coop is so considerate and didn’t just bend me over the nearest horizontal surface and take me to pound town.

Not that I would have minded that, either. It’s the fantasy I had in my head when I returned to my room last night after he sent me off so he could rub one out. I joined him. In spirit, from the comfort of my own bed, body hot and achy all over while I imagined him doing the same thing next-door. Best orgasm I’ve had all week, but I’m ready for the main event when someone else makes me shudder and gasp.

Maybe that was his plan when he said I needed to go to the bonfire at the cove. Loosen up a little, and then it’ll be time to bow chicka wow wow.

“Oh my god,” I mumble before covering my face with a hand.

“What?” Jackson grunts from his seat at the kitchen island, hunched over his phone while he scrolls through TikTok.

I finish pouring lemonade and shake my head. He so doesn’t need to know what an absolute dork I am, even in the confines of my thoughts. “Nothing.”

“Check this one out.” He angles his phone so I can watch. It’s the new dance trend of the week. “Looks easy enough to learn. Do it with me?”

My nose wrinkles. “Nope. Negative. I am not learning TikTok dances with you.”

He groans, pushing the phone more insistently in my direction. “Come on, this one needs two people. Wear a mask or something.”

“No way. I worked my ass off to get into my psych program, there’s nothing that I’ll do to jeopardize my shot by going viral on TikTok for shaking my ass. Employers go after all your online social media presences these days. Not in my five year plan. I’ve got it written down if you want to see.”

“I’ve seen your damn notebooks,” he grumbles.

I take a pointed sip of my drink and lift my brows. “Get your bestie to do it with you.”

If there’s anyone who loves to make TikTok content, it’s Cooper Vale. And with his handsome looks and sultry smile, he has no problem embracing his thirst trap status to lure his followers in hook, line, and sinker. I might be guilty of leaving my favorite videos of his on loop. The thought of the most recent one I saved makes me subtly rub my thighs together.

Jackson shrugs, only half paying attention. “He said he’s busy today.”

“Aww,” I coo with a big fake pout. “Your friend can’t come out to play?”

My brother rolls his eyes and shoves away from the island. “Eat a dick, Tate.”

While I watch him saunter off into our house, I purse my lips. I’d love to, but my lessons haven’t started yet.

I spend a few minutes scrolling through my phone, leaning a hip against the counter while I finish my lemonade. A new pop up market by the beach catches my interest on social media. I don’t have plans today and I hate feeling like I’m sitting around. Standing still isn’t great for me. I start to get agitated, guilty for not being productive and craving something to throw myself into. Checking out the pop up event will be perfect.

“I’m going out,” I call.

Jackson doesn’t answer, but I know he heard me since there isn’t music blasting from his room. I grab my big crochet purse in case I find something I like while browsing and shove my wallet and keys in it.

I pull up short once I step outside, nearly running into Cooper’s chest. Literally, since he has on a faded green muscle tank with wide arm holes and a low neckline that gives a peek at his tan skin. His hair curls around his ears beneath his backwards cap. He smirks, dropping his raised hand that was poised to knock.
