“Tate—”

"Hey!" Ty calls from a distance. Harris and Jackson trail after him. "We're going to head out."

Simone rouses from her nap, sitting up with a yawn.

Jackson plants a hand on my head and tries to ruffle my braided hair. With a little growl, I grip his arm and push him off, flicking his leg.

"I'm going to head out early with them. You coming, Coop?"

"Nah, I've got plans." He looks at me while he says it.

“Aight. Tatum, get a ride home with him. We’re heading the opposite way.”

"Okay."

I'm barely paying attention to my brother, trying to decipher the way Cooper's looking at me. His brown eyes smolder with something that awakens an answering inferno in my core that leaves me short of breath.

"Later." Jackson messes with me once more. Then he and his other two friends pack up.

While they're leaving, Simone grabs my hand, turning her face so Cooper and my brother can't see her. She waggles her eyebrows and mouthsit's on. I shake my head in confusion and the corners of her eyes crinkle with her amusement.

"Enjoy yourself, babe. I'm going home to lay out by the pool."

"You're done, too?" I look at Cooper. "Don't you want to surf more?"

My stomach dips at the slow shake of his head, his intent gaze locked on me. It's lucky Simone knows—not that he's aware—because he's totally failing at keeping what's between us a secret with that look. He traces his lower lip with the tip of his tongue, and an ache throbs between my legs.

I hug Simone goodbye and Cooper takes my beach bag to carry, along with his surfboard. I clutch the rolled up blanket to my chest. We don't touch on the walk to his Jeep, but once he puts the surfboard on the rack and drops my bag in the back, he turns to me, fingertips caressing my arm.

"Give me the blanket." His tone is smoky, full of confidence that makes me want to do anything he asks.

"What are your plans after dropping me off?"

He doesn't answer, just shoots me another indecipherable glance that makes my body flush warm all over.

My heart thumps in the car on the ride home from the beach. Cooper rests his elbow out the open window, his hair curling across his forehead without his signature hat to hold it back. He reaches across and puts his big hand on my leg, tucking his fingers between my thighs. I don’t think he’s aware, but he does it every time we’re alone in the car together.

I fight against wishing for him to move his hand up another inch, to touch me where I'm aching for him. He massages my leg the entire ride home, stoking the tension that's built between us all day.

Once we pull into the shared driveway between our houses, he kills the engine and gives me a leer that makes me swallow thickly.

"You're my plans, T," he rasps. “I need to fuck you. I’ll go out of my mind if I go another minute without feeling you fall apart around my cock.”

NINETEEN

TATUM

My heart nosedives into my stomach at those words. I can't tear my gaze from Cooper as he gets out of the Jeep and circles the front to my side. His eyes don't leave mine either. He opens my door and braces against it, essentially caging me in the passenger seat. His biceps bulge as he leans closer, slowly licking his lip.

"Come on." He takes my hand.

A shaky breath slips past my lips at the way he drags his eyes over me, taking in my purple bikini top and the shorts I tugged on over the bottoms when we left the beach. He mutters a curse under his breath and leads me up to his room.

"Your parents aren't home again, I'm guessing?" My voice is breathless.

He shakes his head. "Another retreat. They'll be gone all week."

We stop at his door and he pins me against it, planting his hands on either side of my head. His brown eyes are a swirl of seductive want. At last, our bodies touch and we both let out rough, desperate sounds. After not being able to touch all day while being around each other at the beach, surviving on stolen touches, this is heaven. He presses into me, the hard muscles of his body smelling of salt and sun.
