“What are you—?”

“Take your shot, T.”

Cooper lifts me up so I can reach the net easily. Sliding my lips together, I dunk the ball. He whoops for me, but we both ignore the ball bouncing off to the side. Butterflies fill my stomach while he lets me down slowly, massaging my waist.

My throat tightens. I desperately want a kiss, but we shouldn’t chance it, not when my brother is right inside. He could return at any minute.

Taking a steadying breath, I turn in Cooper’s arms, meeting his burning gaze gradually. I see the same want reflected in his eyes when he drops them to stare at my mouth.

“Tate,” he rumbles.

Screw it. This all started because I wanted to own my body and take what I wanted. I’m not letting fear stop me.

I press up on my toes at the same time his head dips, meeting in the middle with a kiss. A faint groan sounds from him and he tugs me closer, delving his tongue into my mouth. I cling to his bare shoulders. We’re throwing caution to the wind and I don’t care.

When we’re kissing, it’s the only thing in the world that’s ever felt so right. I’m falling for my sex tutor and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.

TWENTY-TWO

COOPER

Kissing Tatum is a risky as hell move, just like she warned, but fuck it, because this is too good to stop. This is what I was missing earlier at the Tiki Taco Shack—touching her, claiming her, making her shiver for me.

The slide of her tongue against mine aligns my world. I cup the back of her head to bring her closer, deepening the kiss. It’s a crazy desire, but I wish I could do this with her out in the open without having to steal every touch.

It would mean making her mine. Breaking my promise to my best friend.

My loyalty to our friendship wars with the way I’ve wanted Tatum Danvers for longer than I care to admit.

Tatum’s content sigh winds around my heart as we kiss. Shit, for this girl, I might risk it all.

“Yo, what the fuck?” Jackson’s outraged bark cuts through my consciousness.

Tatum goes still as panic surges through me. We break apart and turn to Jackson. He’s silhouetted in the doorway to his kitchen, phone in hand. I push Tatum to arm’s length, my dazed brain scrambling to come up with an explanation.

“I swear, man, it’s not what you think.” The words rush out of me and I want to take them back right away when Tatum sucks in a sharp, pained breath. Fuck. I’m messing this up already. This is why I never wanted him to find out, but I’m the one who broke our rules and got us caught. “I mean—”

“You shithead! My sister?” Jackson stalks toward me and takes a swing at me.

“Jackson!” Tatum yells in a thick voice. “Stop it!”

I duck, hands up as I back away from him. “Listen—”

“No, I don’t want to fucking listen!” He throws up his hands. “What kind of asshole goes behind his best friend’s back to seduce his baby sister?”

“Oh my god, Jacks,” Tatum snaps. “Are you serious?”

“I didn’t seduce her.” My thoughts race with a way to explain this without giving away what we’ve actually been doing. If he finds that out, he’ll be more enraged and ready to cut off my balls for touching her. “This isn’t what it looks like.”

Tatum crosses her arms, her expression tight. Her shoulders hunch and it twists my guts up to see her like that.

“Then tell me what the hell it is, because it looked like you were kissing my sister.” Jackson glares. “The one you swore up and down you’d never touch, Coop. So what the fuck?”

“Okay, yeah, we were kissing.” I run a hand over my hat and blow out a frustrated breath.Think. I need a good explanation for why I was sticking my tongue down her throat. I know my reputation—Jackson helped me cultivate it as my wingman. My stomach drops like a lead weight with dread. “It was just a kiss.”

“Bullshit,” he snarls.

Shaking his head, he charges me again. I throw up my hands to block him and we end up locked in a hold. He knocks my hat off and grips the back of my neck, gritting his teeth while he tries to wrestle me to the ground. I grunt when he catches me across the jaw with one of his fists. It’s nothing more than I deserve for breaking my promise to him. If he only knew how far it’s gone, so much further than a tame kiss.
