Quinci scoffed. “You ain’t nobody.”

I chuckled before letting the window down. “Hello. How are you?”

Her face lit up, and her eyes widened. “Hi. Hello. Hey. Mr. Danger, it’s you. Um, let me just…yeah, let me um…I assume that…one second, please.”She picked up the phone and pressed it to her ear before closing the window.

“Poor girl,” Quinci mumbled.

“Do you not remember how you got the name,Wenci, because I definitely recall you stumbling over—”

“But I wasn’t the one who paid—”

I snapped my fingers, and she pressed her lips together while grinning.

She opened the windowand smiled.

“Mr. Danger, everything is ready for you.You know the private entrance isup there to the left, and you’ll have to go through another gate and…you would know all this because that is literally your name right there. I am so,so,sosorry for being weird. Have a nice stay.”

I nodded my head before letting up the window.

The driver pulled through the gates.

“Do you not come here?”

“Not hardly. This is my first vacation in a while. And I already know what you’re about to say. Every time I’ve taken women with me, I’ve been working. Now, I’m not working. This is strictly…casual. I guess if that’s the word.”

“Mhm. I see.” She marveled at the surroundings as we pulled through the gates.

I opened this place my first year as CEO out of spite and anger. One,fucking reporterswould not leave me the fuck alone no matter where I went.No matter where I went, folks had cameras in my face asking me about my father. I just wanted to chill in private, which was one of the reasons why I joined Chokers to begin with.Second,Declan told me that I neededto focus on learning the basics of the business before I thought about opening a hotel. Itpissed him offwhen I told him“well, if youwerein the running for taking over the business, then itcan’t be rocket science”and that wasthe first fist fight that Declan and I had as adults. I didn’t even get down on him the way I really wanted to, but I knew going forward he’d keep a lot of his comments to himself, and he has.

“Here we are, Mr. Danger.”

When we came to a stop,I noticedShan standing outside with the bellboy and another woman, who was holding two drinks. The second the back door opened, Shan started talkingshit.

“Now, when it was brought to my attention that the Dymon Danger would be gracing us lowly peasants with his presence, I had to make sureI saw it with my own eyes.”

“You still be talking bigshit. Come here, girl.”

We embraced each other.

We attended UCLA together, and she was one of the very few women who I had no desire to sleep with. Don’t get me wrong, she was as beautiful as they come, but we clicked on a personal level when I was going through someshit.I didn’t have manygenuine friends, but she was one of them. That’s why she didn’t hesitateto move to Colorado to become the general manager when I called her. She was happy because she wanted a change of scenery.

Quinci stood at my side with a huge smile on her face.

“Shan, this is Quinci.”

They exchanged pleasantries.

“So, here is the box for your phones. You’ll get them back at the end of your stay.”

“Girl, you know I’m not putting my phone in there.”

“Do I need to remind you that these are your rules for this private ass lodge? You have the room phone if you need to make a call. And before you protest some more, there is a disposable camera in the roomfor memories that we will develop for you.”

Quinci snapped her fingers. “I like you. Let him know.”

Shan grinned.

Reluctantly, I put my phone in the box, whileQuinci’s ass was happy to drop both her phones in there.
