He shook his head.

I laughed at the thought of me giving her my phone number after telling her that she was not qualified for the job. We met up, and she nearly sucked the skin off my dick.Because she did so good, I told her that I’d give her information to someone who might could use her.

The rest of the ride to my headquarters was quiet while Isipped down therest of thetea.

“Any meetings today?” he asked as he came to acomplete stopin front of my building.

“No. Yes. You know, I don’t know. You know I hadn’t been able to make sense of my calendar over the last few days. Let me get back to you once I’m settled.”

He nodded his head before getting out of the car and opened the door for me.

Grabbing mywork bag, I stepped out of the car.

“Try to have a good morning, son.”

“I’ll do my best.”

Walking up the stairs, I nodded my head atboth ofthe doormen asone of thempulled the door opened for me.

The eagle has landed.I heard the voicefrom both of their headsets as I walked through the door.

I chuckled inwardly. That was their name for me.They even talkedshitabout me on our company software app,KogNitolike I wouldn’t see it. My good friend and I created it; Isaweverything.I let themkeep thinking that they had something to themselves. If having a nickname for me,and talkingshitabout me behind my back, meant it kept them on their toes, then it was fine by me.

“Have a good…day, morning, Boss,” one of them stuttered at my back.

“Count on it.”

Idiot. Whywasyour headset…was the last thing I heard one of the doormen say asthe doorclosed. She wore the exact same headset, so she wasalready looking alive. The momentI crossed the hard floor, she stood up with a nervous smile on her face.

“Good morning, Boss. Have a good day,” she spit out.

I nodded my head at her.

The chatter in the hallway almost went to a whisper as I walked down the hallway.

“Your office, Boss?” the elevator guy shot outas I approached him.

I nodded my head.

He pressed the button forthe elevator to open.

He was a new—but a familiar face. Although I hardly remembered names, I’d always remember a face no matter howmuch time would have gone by.When the doors opened,I stepped on first, and he stepped on after me, pulling the card from his jacket, nearly breaking it.

“Uh, my bad, um…” He pressed the card against thesensor, but it blinked red. “Sorry, Boss, I…” He pressed it against the sensor again.

“Maybe if you told it what floor to go to, it will ask for the key. Just a suggestion. Not sure, though.”

“Yea, that’s right.”

He pressed floor twenty-five and then swiped his key card. I heard his low sighof reliefwhen the sensor turned green. He stepped off the elevators and the doors closed.Thetwenty-fifthfloorheld three offices; mine, Diesel’sbecause he was the chief financial officer, and Roger’s, mychief operator officer, the person who’s directly under me, and his assistant. This floor was the most important, so there very few keys made.

When the doors opened,my COO’s assistant jumpedup from her seat and smiled.Even though her job was completely protected by Roger, she still jumped up like everyone else. I respected it.

“Good morning, Boss.”

I nodded my headbefore walkingdown the hall tomyoffice, shutting the door.Just looking at the stack of papers on my deskpissed me off. I didn’t even want to lookoutat the stack of papers on that were onthe assistant’s desk in the lobby. I pulled my suit coat off, wrapping it around my chair. I sat down while rolling up my sleeves. As soon as I turned my computer on, a few taps on my door got my attention.

“Yeah,” I called out.
