“You know there’s a video?”

“Apparently, it went viral. Some BookToker created it.”

“Okay, stop,” I tell him. “How do you know what a BookToker is?”

“Eric.” He sighs.

“Of course,” I mumble, only to hear Bentley’s babble coming from the room. “I need to go, Dad. Bentley just woke up.”

“So, it’s fine for me and Kate to come? No extra visitors I should consider possibly staying with you?”

My lips curve upward into a smile. “No, Dad. I’ve got to fix my mistakes, one at a time.”

* * *

Quickly, I push Bentley’s stroller through the revolving door until we’re in the hotel lobby. The warm air is comforting, a far cry from the wintery cold outside. They predict snow in the next few days, something I actually enjoy since we don’t have any in LA.

A lady stares at me rudely, looking down her nose at me like I’m not good enough to be here. She walks my way, advising me the hotel is closed and only staff are allowed on site. Considering my dad and Lex own the hotel, I wonder at what point I can tell her to go fuck herself.

“I’m here to see, Andy. Can you please tell me where he is?”

Dad informed me last night Andy had returned to London to finish some work. Conveniently, he slipped it out at the very end of our conversation before claiming he needed to answer another call.

“I’m sorry, staff only, and no children allowed.”

“Oh,” I mouth, then pull out my phone, pretending to play dumb. “Would you wait just one moment, please?”

I hit redial on Dad’s number until he picks up.

“Is everything okay, Jessa?”

“Hey, Dad. So, I’m just standing inside your gorgeous hotel with your grandson, but one of your staff won’t let me stay because I’m not staff. Oh, and children aren’t allowed.”

My mouth turns up into a fake smile, watching the woman’s face turn bright red.

“Jessa, please put that person on the phone now.”

I cover the speaker to whisper, “My father would like to speak to you. I’m sure you know who Noah Mason is?”

She closes her eyes to take a deep breath, but then I uncover the speaker to talk again.

“You know what, Dad? I think this was all a mistake. I’ll call you later. Love you.”

“Love you too, sweetheart.”

The call ends as I glance at her once again. “So, let’s start again. Where can I find Andy?”

She points to the room on the left, which appears to be some sort of function room. Without even saying thank you, I push Bentley over until I see all the white lights and cameras set up. The room has been transformed into a wedding reception.

My neck tips back as I glance in awe at the beautiful tables all decorated in white with a small amount of gold as a feature to the fairy lights strewn across the ceiling. There’s organza hanging from the large arched windows, but the showstopper is the six-tiered wedding cake placed on a table in the middle of the wooden dance floor.

I take in all the beauty, the romantic scene of it all, but then, my gaze falls upon the man behind the camera.

Just the sight of him causes my lips to part. My chest tightens, heart pumping at a quick and erratic pace, knowing when he turns around, I won’t be able to piece together the words I so desperately need to say.

“An-dee.” Bentley points, then tries to wiggle out of the stroller.

I see Andy’s posture stiffen. Then he turns around at a slow and agonizing pace, dressed in his jeans and a dark green hoody. I remember the hoody from years ago, often stealing it without his permission to only find out he’d sneaked it out of my wardrobe and back into his.
