But Addison is the Edwards sister who stayed quiet behind the scenes. Even Lex rarely spoke of her, his attention always on Millie, Ava, and Alexa.

She continues to gaze at me with curiosity, allowing me a fleeting moment to observe how much she has changed.

The shape of her face has thinned out slightly, enhancing the pout of her lips. Something within me stirs, this need to rile her up like I’d done when we were kids just to goad some sort of reaction from her.

Finally, she diverts her attention onto the food, prompting me to take a seat across from her.

As I get settled and accept Dad’s beer, it’s hard to ignore her presence. Across from me, I’m distracted when Cruz steals her food, and the two of them knock into each other playfully. It should come as no surprise since they’ve been close since they were young kids.

The night is typical of the time spent when in my brother’s presence. He’s forever acting like an immature dickhead, trying to prove a point like he’s the best thing to ever happen to my parents. So, it isn’t unusual for him to mouth off. That is until Addison interrupts him and mentions Dad’s piercing.

Cruz watches on in horror but not me. I’m amused by such a thing to come out of Miss Innocent’s mouth. Of course, Ava is behind this. I make a mental note to speak to her later and ask why the fuck this is talked about amongst the sisters.

But right now, Addison Edwards has a fascination with Dad, and I won’t let this one slide, especially when everyone has stepped out, and it’s just her and me.

“So, sorry about the comment, you know, about your dad,” she mumbles, unable to look at me.

My eyes are stationed on her. “It appears you’re fixated with such novelty.”

Addison raises her perfectly shaped eyebrows, followed by a hard smile. “Such novelties don’t interest me.”

“How would you know unless you’ve tried?”

“Tried what exactly?” she questions with curiosity.

“Being intimate with a man who can pleasure you in the way you’ve never experienced before.”

Our gazes play a dangerous game, and if I knew what was good for me, I’d turn away right now.

“The world doesn’t revolve around sex,” she blurts out. “Believe it or not, there are more important and worthy matters which need attention.”

I lean against the chair, keeping my lips pressed flat.

“If you say so, Miss Edwards.”

“I mean, maybe in your world because you’re such a player, that’s all you think about. Some of us need more in life.”

Who the hell does she think she is? Someone who needs to be shown what a real man can do. And, sweetheart, it’s clearyourworld doesn’t revolve around sex.

“I can guarantee, Addison, if a man satisfied you, this conversation would never have taken place.”

She folds her arms beneath her chest. “You’re such an arrogant—”

“Jerk?” I cut her off with a deep stare. “That’s how the hate fuck always begins…”

My family walks back in and interrupts our heated conversation. During dessert, my phone buzzes with a text. I quickly glance at the screen.

Nicole:Mr. Cooper, are you up for some fun tonight?

I contemplate texting back since Nicole is a guaranteed fuck. But something stops me.

Then, Addison excuses herself to use the bathroom, giving me the perfect getaway.

So, I say goodbye to my parents without bothering to say anything to Cruz.

As for Addison, out of sight, out of mind.

At least, that’s what I think on the drive home.
