“Are you kidding me, Addy?” She shouts with a judgmental stare.

I cross my arms beneath my chest. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“You’re fucking Masen.”

“Ava, you’re ridiculous.”

“Um, hello! The shirt?” she accuses with an unrelenting stare. “That shirt was custom made. I gave it to you at Christmas as a joke because of the whole swingers thing. It was made in salmon color because that’s one of our favorite scenes in the show Friends.”

Before I respond, my phone vibrates in my pocket. I quickly pull it out to see a message from Masen.

Masen:Please don’t tell me you told Ava. Fucking hell Addison.

Ava yanks the phone off me to read the message.

“Ava! That’s my phone.”

She hits dial and places the call on speaker. When he picks up, Ava is quick to yell, “Come to my room now, young man.”

I lower my head, still refusing to answer her question. Several minutes later, the door opens, and Masen steps in. I can’t look his way, ready for the wrath of my older sister.

Ava’s eyes dart between us. “So, who would like to start?”

“It’s not what you think it is.”

“I think my good friend, who I’ve known my entire life and is like a brother to me, is fucking my baby sister. Am I accurate enough?”

Masen pinches the bridge of his nose. “Can you not make a big deal of this?”

Ava gasps dramatically, typical of her to react this way. As for me, my butterflies are on the verge of vomiting from the stress of this night.

“Not make a big deal out of this?” she repeats in a high-pitched tone. “Addison doesn’t just fuck men. So, if she does, it’s a super big deal. Throw you into the mix, it’s an even bigger deal. I don’t understand. You guys loathe each other.”

“Firstly, thanks for pointing out my sexual history. No, I don’t just fuck men, Ava. I’m not you.”

Ava’s mouth falls open. “Exactly why this is the biggest deal ever. Are you in love with him?”

My heart stops beating at the mention of ‘love’. I can’t look at Masen, not wanting to freak out because Ava is losing the plot. Love is a strong word. You can’t just say it when you feel like it without losing its importance.

“This isn’t the biggest deal. A bigger deal was Millie sleeping with Will. An even bigger deal was you having a one-night stand with your sister's ex-fiancé and falling pregnant,” I remind her with animosity. “Don’t make this bigger than it has to be. Yes, we are sleeping together, and that’s it.”

“Oh?” Ava nods with a forced smile, then turns to Masen. “And what about you? Are you only sleeping with Addison, or is she one of the many you’re stringing along right now?”

“Ava,” Masen grits, clenching his fists. “I’m trying my hardest to respect that you’ve just had a baby and are probably charging with hormones. But, I’ll say this once. This is mine and Addison’s business, not yours. To set the record straight, I haven’t been with anyone since this began. That’s all I’ll say on this.”

Ava shakes her head in disbelief. “I can’t believe you two. So, what now? Are you telling Mom and Dad? Is this gonna end up in marriage? What if you get knocked up? Oh my god, I can’t handle Dad getting all alpha angry again.”

“You need to calm down, okay? Mom and Dad don’t need to know. And please stop talking about nonsense stuff. Give me some credit. You know how I feel about marriage. I’m not you or Millie.”

“Fine. I’m going to step outside to give you some privacy to discuss how you’re going to walk outside and pretend I don’t know anything. I will be at the end of the hall to make sure no one comes here.” Ava raises her hand and points her finger at me, then Masen. “Do not have sex in my room, you understand?”

“Oh sure,” I drag, rolling my eyes. “But it was okay for you to have sex with Austin downstairs in the cellar on Christmas eve? Do you know Mom and Dad have sex in there? It’s like a sex dungeon.”

“I did no such thing.”

“The cameras didn’t lie.”

“You watched me?!”
