“You’re not the only one who’s excited,” I say, my voice low. I pull her tightly against me and let her feel exactly how excited I am.

Her eyes gleam and she glances around the reception room at everyone dancing and eating.

“Meet me in the limo?” she murmurs.

She slips off my lap and leans over me, giving me a quick kiss, her tongue dancing across my lips before she eases away from me.

I watch her walk across the room, her hips swaying seductively under her burgundy silk dress. When she throws me a need-filled look over her shoulder, I stand up, quickly adjust myself through my tuxedo pants, and follow her out of the room.

Chapter Nine

Epilogue –Courtney

Three Months Later

“This is amazing! Isn’t thisamazing?”

I turn to Leon and grasp his hand, pulling him further into the darkened building. When we pass through the arched doorway leading into the main room, I reach behind the hostess desk and flip a switch.

“Itisamazing.” Leon leans down and plants a kiss above my eyebrow. “Show me around?”

“Absolutely.” I pull him into the center of our main dining room. Leon has been busy with Julian planning our menu and getting all the permits, paperwork, inspections, and all the other business end type things together while I took over handling the interior work.

“Since we’re doing fusion, I decided—with Rose’s help, which was perfect because her wedding buffet was the inspiration—that we’d do each section slightly different but stay in the same color scheme for cohesion. For instance, some French influence here, with the ironwork you’d see on Parisian balconies. And over here will be our Thai-inspired area, and then Moroccan…” I spin in a circle and take in the vintage chandeliers I picked out, the crisp white tablecloths, and the high-backed chairs at each table. “What do you think?”

“I think it’s gorgeous, baby. Just like you.” Leon sweeps me up into his arms and spins me until I’m giggling like a schoolgirl. His soft, insistent lips meet mine and his warm tongue nudges open my lips, tasting and teasing me.

Then his kiss deepens and leaves me breathless and wanting him, right here in the middle of our brand new restaurant.

“Okay, okay,” I pant as I pull away. “We don’t have time for that, mister. The staff will be here any minute for training. But wewillinitiate this place before we open. Trust me.” I raise what I hope is a sexy eyebrow at my husband, and am pleased at the low growl he gives me in return.

“Damn right we will, Mrs. Torres,” he says, his hands drifting down to cup my behind.

I swat his hands away playfully. “Come on, you. Kitchen inspection time.”

We walk through the kitchen with its gleaming metallic work surfaces and tiled floors. We inspect the well-stocked coolers and steal a few nibbles of fresh dragon fruit from one of the fridges.

“Opening day is going to be amazing,” I say with a contented sigh.

“You bet your gorgeous ass it’ll be,” Leon says, and wraps his sturdy arms around me. “This is what I’ve wanted all this time. Just you and me, together against the world, building something for our future. Building something for our future kids.”

My heart swells as I look up at my husband.

A mini me and a miniature Leon? I can totally see it someday.

But for now, this is enough. It’s more than I could have ever dreamed of and it’s everything I ever wanted.

Like Leon said, just the two of us, building our future. Together.
