Crossing her arms over her chest, the other woman cocked her head to the right and lifted her brows expectantly. “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe thrilling, surprising, and orgasmic?”

Heat rushed to Jupiter’s face and she stammered for a complete sentence. “I, uh, um, we were—”

Nikita chuckled and shook her head. “I’m giving you shit.”

Jupiter relaxed and managed a smile.

“If anybody deserves a happy ending, it’s Rubble.”

“Why’s that?”

Stripping off her tank top and pajama pants, Nikita walked to the shower and checked the water temperature before stepping inside and closing the curtain. “He and Kevlar go way back. They were in the military together. Even had a few close call OPs.”

“Really? Rubble never mentioned.”

“He wouldn’t. Most guys don’t like to relive the bad times overseas.”

Jupiter toweled off her body and grabbed the bottle of lotion. “Can’t blame them. Trauma tends to stick with you no matter how hard you try to escape.”

“Sounds like personal experience.” Nikita popped her head out of the shower, eyes curious. “Wanna explain?”

“Not really, no.”

“All right. My door’s always open.” She closed the curtain again. “Plus, I know a little already thanks to Rubble. I won’t snitch. I’m an FBI agent after all.”

That made Jupiter smirk. The woman was the typical sassy biker chick, but Nikita’s job title was unexpected. Normally, the Feds stayed away from MCs.But this club is different.

“Are you going to watch any of the events?”

Jupiter finished moisturizing her legs and moved to her arms. “I’m not sure. Yasmina mentioned wanting to see the snowboarders, so I’ll man the booth while she does that.”

“Snowboarders are cool, but the skiers are my favorite.” Steam rose from the shower stall, filling the rest of the bathroom. “I’ll try and convince Kevlar to take over so you can check it out.”

Sensing a kinship already, Jupiter agreed and after promising to catch up later, hurried to her room to dress. She pressed her lips together as the night before flashed in her mind. Rubble was unlike any other man she’d slept with, not that the list was horribly long. Somehow, Rubble made her feel alive, protected, and adored all at once. She shimmied her jeans over her hips and buttoned them. It was a sensation she’d gladly repeat as often as possible.

A new message popped up on the burner cell. Grabbing it, she reviewed the text from her lawyer in Dallas.

Neffenger: Everything’s going as planned. Will contact you soon with more news.

Jupiter gripped the phone a little tighter. Their plan was a bit ballsy, but she didn’t have any other choice. Lyle set up corporations under her name to avoid tax repercussions on the family business. Her lawyer was working on skirting the potential criminal issues Lyle liked to hold over her head. It gave her little peace, but it was better than the alternative.

Letting out a shaky breath, she replied and stuffed the phone in her back pocket. The safest option would be to tell Rubble about her plan, but she didn’t want to risk his involvement. As if he isn’t already involved. She pulled on her fur-lined boots and donned a stocking cap. Her reflection in the small mirror made her chuckle. Everything she wore had Macha stamped on it.Including my heart.

“You can’t be serious.”

Rubble’s left eyebrow quirked up, a wickedly cute grin on his bearded face. “But I am. You said you didn’t know how to ski.” He nodded to the large mountain behind them. “We’re in the perfect place for you to learn.”

“This is a horrible idea,” she muttered, but allowed him to help her click ski boots into the long skis, nevertheless.

“We won’t start on the double black diamonds, don’t worry.” He kissed her forehead before adjusting her pink hat. “Green’s the way to go… for today.”

Jupiter’s eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. “You’re gonna kill me.”

He shook his head, only a select few tattoos peeking out on his neck. The rest of him was covered in winter gear just like hers, only it was black instead of pink. The bright color was Queenie’s idea. The club’s old lady was worried about not being able to see Jupiter if an avalanche occurred.Yeah, that makes me want to ski.

Rubble guided her to the chairlift nearing them. “All right, once the chair’s close enough, hop on.”
