“Isa, are you in there?”

Jupiter’s eyes swung to the door that seemed to be attracting everyone’s attention ever since her arrival.

“Aye, Dolly, what now?” Isa opened the door, one hand on her hip. “If that nymph said I pulled her hair, it’s because I did. That sprite shouldn’t have taken the last cookie. I’m pregnant, not a saint.”

Dolly snorted. “Yes, because we all thought you were a saint before Doc knocked you up.” She rolled her eyes before her gaze settled on Jupiter. “Oh, hello. I didn’t realize we had someone staying up here. I’ll have Cherie clean tomorrow.”

“I don’t know how long I’m staying,” Jupiter said, getting to her feet. She couldn’t help but gawk at the woman who wore a tank top despite the frigid temperature outside. She was covered in tattoos with a piercing in her nose, and her black hair was pulled into a ponytail. In her own way, she was stunning, gorgeous even.

“That’s all right. You stay as long as you need.” Dolly held out her hand. “I’m the nymph wrangler, as the boys call it.”

“What’s a nymph?” The image of a fairytale creature came to mind, but Jupiter doubted it was accurate.

Isa blew out a breath. “And with that, I’m off to the doctor.” She smirked. “The actual doctor, not mine.” She waved at Jupiter. “I’ll see you around, yeah?”

“Sure. Good luck.”

More ruckus came from the window and Dolly snorted. “Those damn bastards will keep you up at all hours.” She pushed the window up and yelled, “Hey, some people are trying to rest!”

“Who? You? We all know that’s not true,” a teasing voice called back.

Curiosity getting the better of her, Jupiter joined Dolly at the window. The same three bikers were there, cigarettes in hand.

Dolly lifted her middle finger nonchalantly, which got a chuckle out of the men. “Don’t make me come down there and kick your ass, Kevlar. You know I can.”

Jupiter stood to the side and watched the man called Kevlar shake his head, eyes rolling. The shorter man nodded toward her.

“And who’s your friend? A new nymph, eh, Dolly? You said you’d give me first dibs on new girls.”

Heat flooded Jupiter’s face and she suddenly understood what a nymph was in the club. “Nymphs are club girls, aren’t they?” she whispered.

Dolly offered her an apologetic smile. “Yeah, they are.” She whipped her head back out the window. “Dammit, Cueball, she’s not a new girl. This is one of Queenie’s friends. God, you’re a jackass sometimes.”

“Aw, shit. Sorry, lady. Didn’t mean no harm.”

Jupiter wasn’t sure she could look out the window again, but then she heard the last man’s voice.

“A friend of Queenie’s? Is that who she left to pick up?”

The deep timbre of his voice sent sultry shivers across her skin. Never had a man’s tone done that to her. She peered cautiously around Dolly and took in the hulking man. Without the dirty window contorting him, she could finally see his features. A black beanie covered his head, and a pair of curious eyes prodded her. His dark beard was expertly trimmed and groomed, but it was his stature that made her breath catch. Even her five-foot-ten-inch frame would be small next to him. Under his jacket and dark denim jeans, she knew there were chords of muscles merely waiting to spring into action. He was the epitome of a bad boy biker, and that sent her pulse into overdrive.

“What’s your name?” he called, taking a step closer.

She noticed his unique set of eyes then, one green and one blue. “Jupiter Quinn.”

He reached up and smoothed his beard, tattoos prevalent on his hand and fingers. “That’s a nice name.”

Jupiter licked her suddenly dry lip. She wasn’t even face-to-face with the man and her palms were sweating. From fear or attraction, she couldn’t tell. “What’s yours?”

“Rubble.” He cocked his head to the right, studying her the same way she did him.

“There you are, Dolly. Jupiter, why’re you hanging your head out the window?”

At the sound of Queenie’s voice, Jupiter jumped, hitting the back of her head in the process. Rubbing it, she tried to ignore the chuckles from below.

“We were….” She couldn’t find any words that sounded right.

“The boys were being loud, so I kindly asked them to keep it down,” Dolly said, walking to the door. “I’ll catch up with you later, Jupiter.” She offered her a broad smile. “Oh, and welcome to Macha.”
