Kissing his forehead, she shrugged. “Endorphins, that’s all.”

Brewer laughed and tickled her sides. Delphi giggled, trying to tickle him back. It felt good to laugh with and tease a man.

“You ready to head back to Snowshoe?”

She sighed. “Or we could stay here the rest of the night.”

“Don’t you have a restaurant to run?”

She scrunched her nose. “Yeah, I guess. But it’d be a lot more fun here.”

He kissed her softly. “I have no doubt about that.”

Brewer rolled her onto the bed with him, snuggling her against his chest. “All right, we’ll rest here for a few minutes, then drive to town.”

Cuddling closer, Delphi shut her eyes and focused on the beat of his heart. Suddenly, she didn’t want to go anywhere without him. That thought sent chills up her spine.

“You cold?” He rubbed her arm, feeling the goose bumps.

“Not really. Just thinking.”

“Don’t do that. You’re liable to regret something.”

She leaned up on her elbow and met his gaze. “I’ll never regret spending time with you, Brewer.”

He wrapped her hair around his hand and tugged lightly. “I hope not, because I sure as hell don’t.”

Their lips met briefly, Delphi sighing at the simple yet erotic act. Being comfortable around a man wasn’t normal for her.But Brewer isn’t just any man.She kissed him again, already feeling him stiffen, ready for a second round. Brewer was the man who could easily break her heart.

Brewer pulled her beneath him, kissing the side of her neck and stoking the fire between them. For the time being, Delphi promised herself she wouldn’t give in to her deepest fears. Brewer would never do anything to hurt her. She had to believe that. She couldn’t go back to a life without him.

CHAPTER25

BREWER

The sun stayedlow on the horizon, hiding behind the mountains during their drive back to Snowshoe. Having Delphi pressed against his back shouldn’t have been a turn-on, but it was. He was semihard the entire way to her bistro. More than once, he almost pulled over and fucked her up against a tree. He’d resisted.Somehow.

Now, an hour later, he sat at a small table. Soft music streamed through the speakers. The ambiance in the restaurant made him smile behind his cup of coffee. Couples in love were situated sporadically throughout the small space. He immediately wondered if the staff seated them there on purpose. One couldn’t look far without seeing romance.

“Need a refill?” Delphi asked, holding up a fancy coffeepot.

He held out his cup. “Won’t turn it down.”

She smirked, and he noticed a splash of pink on her cheeks. She barely had time to change before the dinner rush started. Knowing that her skin still held the residue of their lovemaking sent his dick right back to the cabin in the mountain.

“How’s everything going?” He glanced around but didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. “Any issues I should handle?”

Delphi rolled her blue eyes. “I don’t need a bouncer, Brewer.”

“Nobody thinks they do… until they do.” His gaze drifted to the front lobby. It was filled with people waiting to be seated. No one seemed out of place, but he wouldn’t overlook anyone.

“Want anything to eat? I have a few madeleines in the kitchen. The tray tipped, so they aren’t the prettiest, but they still taste good.”

“You know I can’t pass on those.” He winked. “Or on you.”

The pink on her cheeks deepened. She walked away and disappeared through the swinging kitchen doors. He’d never get sick of the way her hips swayed, mesmerizing him with every step.

“You’re Dolly’s brother, right?”
