“The election, of course.” Hawk handed him a bottle of beer. “We all think you’d make a damn good VP or Prez.”

The beer in Brewer’s mouth fizzed out at the words. “Nah, not my thing, boys.”

He looked around the room but only saw men nodding in agreement with Hawk’s statement. “I’m not so sure, but I’ll keep it in mind,” he said to placate them. He didn’t intend to be president, but they wouldn’t stop unless he gave them the answer they wanted.

Snoopy and Cueball shook their heads. The men of Macha didn’t mince feelings or hide their opinions. It was part of the reason Brewer loved the club so much.

“I think you’d be a bomb prez,” Cueball said.

“Yeah, me too.” Snoopy grabbed a nymph by the waist and pulled her to him. “Plus, you run the bar and your sis runs the girls. We’d have one hell of a club with that combo. Just imagine the parties. I’m sure we could even make some cash on the side. Everybody loves our nymphs.”

Brewer clenched the bottle a little tighter. “That isn’t how this club works, and you know it.” He finished off the beer in one long swig.

Snoopy shrugged. “Doesn’t mean we can’t tweak the code a bit. Clubs evolve with new leadership.”

Brewer’s jaw hurt from gritting it. Men like Snoopy were part of the problem with MCs. They took advantage of women instead of treating them like human beings. He wasn’t about to let Macha turn down that rocky path.

Straightening his shoulders, he nodded at Kevlar and Rubble who recently joined the group. “No matter who’s VP or Prez, one thing’s never gonna change, and that’s how we treat the women under our care. My sister will always agree with me too. Macha isn’t in that business and never will be.”

Snoopy rolled his eyes and walked away with the nymph in tow. Brewer moved to follow him, but Rubble placed a hand on his shoulder.

“He’s not worth the fight.” He nodded in the direction Delphi had recently disappeared in. “Not tonight at least. You might scare her off if you do.” He smirked and waved at his old lady, Jupiter. “Your girl is a bit more standoffish with club matters, like Jupiter. Best leave those details out of the equation until she’s more comfortable with us.”

Brewer nodded, acknowledging the veracity of the sergeant’s words. Other women were used to fist fights and bar brawls. Even if Delphi grew up in Snowshoe, her mother kept her away from club life for a reason.

“Hey, Brewer, is Delphi here?” Jupiter asked, reaching them. Her little belly was cute on the lanky woman. Brewer was grateful the two were friends. It helped his cause a little more.

“Yeah, she’s around somewhere.” He grabbed another bottle of beer and did his damnedest to calm his temper. Delphi deserved a nice night at the clubhouse, and he intended to give it to her. Dealing with Snoopy and the rowdier club members could wait. One thing was certain: if his brothers voted him into office, he’d make damn sure Macha didn’t change for the worse.

CHAPTER26

DELPHI

“Want another round?”

Delphi shook the empty beer bottle in her hand and shrugged. “Sure, why not. I’m not driving home.”

Brewer gave her an odd glance but headed toward the kitchen while she perused the rest of the clubhouse. It was the same as any day. There were nymphs being drooled over by both patched members and prospects alike, booze flowed from an unlimited tap, and curls of cigarette smoke lingered in the air.

Closing her eyes, Delphi listened to the sounds of Macha’s clubhouse. Swearing was abundant as were the innuendos and jokes. Despite the dark places clubs could venture, she liked spending time with them.

She opened her eyes, and reality struck her hard. Hawk sat across the room, a redheaded nymph openly sucking his dick. It wasn’t atypical in club life, she knew, but it also wasn’t something she was immune to, and she never would be.

“It’s probably hard to believe, but this is a tame night for the lads,” Isa said, taking a seat next to her. She rubbed her stomach, face wrinkling in pain. “I’ve seen them much worse, believe me. You’ll get used to it.”

“No, I don’t think I will.” Delphi set down the empty bottle of beer. “I grew up terrified of motorcycle clubs.”

“What changed your mind?”

“Who said it changed?”

Isa rolled her eyes and flipped her long hair over her shoulder. “Seeing how you’re currently screwing a biker and enjoying it, from what I gather, I’d assume you.”

Thinking back over her time with Brewer, Delphi couldn’t entirely disagree. Her perception of club lifehadchanged, but not because she was sleeping with Brewer. “Macha is different.”

“Thank the goddess for that.” Isa sipped on her bottle of strawberry-flavored water. “I didn’t grow up around clubs either.” She nodded to the woman at Kevlar’s side. “Only Nikita did.”

Delphi noticed Dolly making her rounds in the clubhouse, typical tank top and high ponytail in place. She was the epitome of a club girl and wore that identity like a badass.
