“What the actual—” Harry muttered. “Cockblocked by my phone and now this?”

“Maybe they’ll go away if we’re quiet?” I whispered.

As if in answer to my suggestion, the hammering on the door increased.

“HARRY CAIN! WAKE UP NOW!”

Harry groaned, kissed me on the forehead and grabbed a towel from the floor, loosely wrapped it around his waist, and stormed to the front door.

I followed closely behind him.

“Who are you?” Harry yelled. “And what the fuck do you want?”

“STACEY? ARE YOU IN THERE? HAVE YOU GOT HER IN THERE YOU MOTHERFUCKING PRICK?”

Harry waved towards the door. “Is this the time you tell me about any psychopathic exes?”

A penny dropped. “Oh my god. You’ve got to be kidding me. I bloody texted him,” I muttered as I walked around Harry to open the door.

Harry lunged at me with one hand while the other adjusted his grip on the towel.

“Don’t open it,” he hissed. “Who did you text?”

“STACEY!”

“Yes, I’m here!” I yelled. “If you would just calm down and act like a civilised human being, I’ll open the door.”

“You want to let that arsehole in here?” Harry asked, incredulous. “Who the fuck is it?”

“It’s okay, really. Sort of.” I sighed. “It’s my older brother.”

“What the—”

I cut Harry off, removing his hand and unlocking the door. As soon as the lock clicked back, Ryan burst into the room.

“Stacey! Thank god, are you—” He grabbed me by the shoulders. I opened my mouth to answer, but Ryan then noticed Harry behind me, standing in a towel, still clearly aroused, with hands on hips, his face thunderous.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing, coming into my room like this?” Harry yelled. Ryan released me and made to move towards Harry, his face fierce.

“No, Ryan, no, don’t!” I grabbed a hold of Ryan’s arm but he swatted me away as if I was an annoying bug.

“What the fuck are you doing with my sister?” Ryan pointed at Harry.

“None of your business!” Harry roared back.

Ryan balled his hand into a fist and Harry clenched his. They were both ready to spring. I moved fast to put myself between the two cavemen. They were an even match in height, muscles and weight but I wasn’t going to let this dissolve into a fight.

“Jesus, Ryan, stop it! Don’t you dare hit him!” I screamed. He stopped, thankfully, and looked at me as if I was mad. “Ryan, what is this all about? Has something happened? Is something wrong?”

He shook his head impatiently, shooting Harry a murderous glare.

I threw my hands up in the air. “Then why are you here trying to break down the door? What on earth is going on?”

Ryan moved away and Harry rested a hand on my hip, pressing his body against me to tell me he literally had my back. I took a deep breath, watching Ryan pace back and forth.

“For fuck’s sake, Stacey,” Ryan threw up his hands in the air. “Everyone said you got a lift home last night. With him.” He shot Harry a dark look. “And then I got home an hour ago from the Shed to find no one has seen or heard from you, and your bed wasn’t slept in. I’ve been calling you all morning, and him too, and no one answered their phones.”

“We were trying to sleep,” Harry grumbled, letting me go. I missed his warmth as he walked over to his dirty clothes to find his mobile again.
