“That's so cool! Fresh baked bread is such a dream.” Nicky's smile was soft, and it made me want to show up with an armful of loaves fresh out of the oven.

Good thing I was dating a baker.

“You got a favourite bread, Books?”

“Focaccia, hands down. I don’t even care what kind, it's all amazing.”

I stuffed down the internal surge of excitement. I was totally going to woo her with baking. She wouldn’t even know what hit her.

Be calm.

Be cool.

Donotlet the pretty librarian know you’re about to implode.

Tony dropped his arm to my waist, digging his fingers in as a teasing warning. Damn, if he wasn’t good at reading me.

I could be casual.

“I guess we’ll see you tomorrow night if you’re working,” I said.

See…casual.

“I’ll be here.” Nicky smiled sweetly.

“Don’t miss us too much.” I blew her a kiss, gratified at the flush of her cheeks.

Tony led me out of the building and into the pack minivan. There were other vehicles to choose from, but this one was so convenient when you never knew how many pack members you’d end up carting around. I was always the cartee, rather than the carter. Driving gave me anxiety up the wazoo and the pack was very indulgent about not forcing me to drive when none of them minded the chore.

Tony looked at his watch. “You made it a whole hour without flirting in front of me.”

“How am I supposed tonotflirt when she has a blush like that? It's like a siren song to me.”

He laughed and climbed into the driver's side, waiting until I was buckled into the passenger side before gliding out of the parking lot to head back to the house.

“I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t take too many asks to get her to go on a date with you.”

I grinned. “Oh, I fully intend to bribe her with bread and an invite to breakfast if the rest of the pack is cool with it. You have to tell me your vibes. You wanna go on a date with the sexy librarian?”

He smirked as we pulled up to a stop sign. “I could be persuaded pretty easily.”

I pumped a hand in the air. “Fuck yeah!”

“Butthere are three others to consider, and you know how Hana is with change.”

“Oh, damn. True. I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.”

“Why do I feel like this isn’t so much a case of crossing bridges as it is throwing yourself into the river regardless of a bridge?”

“Because you know me too well.” I leaned across the gap in the seats to press a kiss to his cheek. “And I’m not opposed to you getting to know me even better after we drop off Jaspy at the bakery.”

His coffee and caramel scent bloomed, raising goosebumps on my skin, and pulling a moan through my lips. I leaned closer, flicking my tongue over his throat.

“Don’t tease me while I’m driving or I’m going to pull over and Jasper will be late to work.”

My clit tingled at his words and my breath came shorter. “He's the boss. It’s not like he’ll get in trouble.”

Tony squeezed my chin between his thumb and forefinger after pausing at another stop sign. “You’re being a brat.”
