His eyes widened, nostrils flaring.

“Holy fuck.” He palmed his crotch. “A little warning next time. I’m gonna have a boner at work.”

I laughed maniacally in the front seat. “I can get some traffic law violations and take care of that for you if you want.”

“That would be unsafe.” He sighed, leaning forward to wrap his arms around my chair and hug me from behind. “Are you late because you were fucking?”

“Seat belts,” Tony demanded.

Jasper sighed again and sank back into his seat, pulling his belt on as we rolled out of the driveway to head to the bakery.

“We’re late because Billie got all hot and bothered by the new librarian at the community center,” Tony said.

“Tell. Me. Everything.” Jasper poked my shoulders. “I need the deets.”

“She's cute as a fucking button,” I said, turning in my seat to face Jasper despite Tony's disapproving tongue click. “Brunette, brown eyes, wee bit taller than me. She smells like old books and nutmeg, and she turns bright red if you get flirty with her.”

“Colour me intrigued.” Jasper toyed with his beard, looking contemplative. “And is Tony smelling like a caramel macchiato because you got spicy or because of the sexy librarian?”

Tony sighed deeply. “You two are going to give me grey hairs.”

“I vote both,” I said. “There's no way I’d have convinced him to pull over for shenanigans if he didn’t get worked up over her first.”

Jasper patted Tony's shoulder. “I want to come with you next time. If that's okay?”

Tony laid his hand over our omega’s, lifting his fingers for a quick kiss. “You’re always welcome, Jasper. Plus, if Billie has their way, the entire pack will be there within the week to eyeball this poor woman.”

“I’m very respectful about my eyeballing.” Jasper grinned.

“I have it onverygood authority that you’renot.” Tony reached between the seats and clapped a hand onto Jasper's knee.

“That's because we’re already fucking. I’m allowed to be disrespectful when I look at your cock before I put it in my mouth.”

Tony choked on his laugh, and I cackled.

The phones all buzzed. I pulled mine out, seeing a notification from Gabe, and let out a huff as I read it. “Boooo. Gabe's gonna be late tonight.”

“Trouble at the club?” Jasper asked.

“Probably some drunk people causing a fuss,” I replied.

Jasper growled. “If he comes home with another black eye, I’m going to leave some baguettes out to go stale and bludgeon some assholes on his behalf.”

“Jasper the Red Knight.” I giggled. “Fighting for our honour.”

“If people want to fuck with my pack they can find out how vicious this omega can be.” Jasper crossed his arms.

“Anyone with half a brain cell would avoid pissing you off,” I said. “I’m surprised anyone ever tries to take a swing at Gabe, but I guess that's more to do with the alcohol consumption than any kind of active choice.”

Tony pulled to a stop outside of Jasper's little shop—Go With The Dough Bakery. It was the cutest thing, with a glowing sign featuring a tiny redhead holding a loaf of bread over his head. Jasper’s dream was definitely one of my better investments.

I hopped out of the van and waited for Jasper's exit to pull him into a hug. “Have a good shift, Jaspy. And bring me home some of your rosemary focaccia, okay? I’ve got a pretty lady to bribe with it.”

Jasper kissed me soundly and squeezed me to his chest. “I’ll save the very best for you.”

Our omega swept around the vehicle to kiss Tony through the open window before heading inside, and I hopped back into the van.

“Would it be weird if we went back to the library?” I asked.
