“Deep breath, both of you,” Gabe ordered.

I followed the instructions, and a rush of chocolate and tea flooded my system, instantly dispelling my lingering stress.

“Do you think it went okay?” I asked.

“They seemed nice,” said Jasper.

“I think it went fine.” Gabe tipped my face up to his. “Your brother and sister-in-law are on board; the rest of your family just needs a little time to adjust.”

I sighed and stood up on my toes, brushing my mouth against his. I melted eagerly at the way his fingers curled around the back of my neck and let my eyes slip closed. After a few moments of indulgence, I turned between them to face Jasper.

“Thank you for coming tonight, I meanbothof you, butyoutook time out of work to be here for me.” I cupped his cheek, fingers tracing over his beard. I rose up on my toes again and kissed him slowly until the sweet omega smelled like the bakery he worked at. I settled back with a relaxed hum, savouring the safety of having two of them at my front and back.

Gabe nipped the shell of my ear. “You’re going to be late for work if we don’t leave soon.”

“Okay, okay, I’m going.” I gave Jasper one more quick kiss and slipped into the passenger side of Gabe's two-seater.

The trip was smooth and seemed faster than usual, but we arrived at the same time as I normally would have. Part of me felt guilty that we had dropped Spud off at my place on the way to dinner. He’d been so cute with Roscoe lately, and now my baby boy was all alone in an empty apartment. I’d have to see about bringing him over to the pack house again so he could have little play dates.

Gabe parked next to my car that had been temporarily abandoned in the lot. “Start it up for me and park a little closer to the building. I want to make sure it's running fine. But first,” he hooked his hand behind my head and pulled me in for a sweeping kiss that instantly turned my legs to jelly and had my clit throbbing.

I leaned into him. My hands curled into his shirt, and it was only after he devoured my needy whine that he sat back.

“Hurry up,” he chided teasingly. “You can have one more before you go in, but go park the car in the light for me first.”

I huffed and climbed out, starting my car and pulling it around to park under one of the lot lights. It ran just fine, though I hadn’t expected it otherwise.

Gabe pulled to a stop next to my car, and I hopped out, leaning through his open window to collect my additional reward. It waswaytoo easy to get lost in the feel of him. In the way he mademefeel. I hummed happily and stepped aside, adjusting my purse on my shoulder.

“Have a good shift, Nicky.”

It was on the tip of my tongue to say that he could hang out in the library if he wanted to, but I didn’t want to be needy. So I simply walked up to the main doors, turning back to see him wave through the windshield, waiting until I was safely indoors before driving away.

I trudged up the stairs and waved to Miranda, who was sitting at the front desk.

“Hey there, lucky girl.” She grinned.

I raised an eyebrow. “I’m going to need a little more context.”

Miranda gestured to the bouquet of stargazer lilies on the front desk. “The weekend girls said that these came for you on Friday night.”

I stared at the ostentatious bundle of pink and white blooms. Who had sent me flowers at work? I’d been with the pack the whole weekend, and, even if I hadn’t, none of them were likely to have chosen flowers that were fatal to cats.

Miranda plucked a card from the centre and passed it to me.

My blood turned to ice water as I read it.

Sorry about this morning.

Give me another chance to prove that we’re meant to be.

Call me.

– Al

“Are you okay?” Miranda asked. “You look a little pale.”

“Super fine,” I squeaked out. “You don’t happen to want a bouquet of lilies, do you?”
