He shrugs. “Yeah, it’s my favorite.”

“It’s a good choice,” I tell him. “A little salty. A little sweet. The perfect combination.”

“I agree,” he tells me. “You all done?”

I nod and hand him my pizza.

I watch him as he gets everything ready to bake. And it feels so strange being here. It’s strange because it feels so… right. So normal.

I have only met these two people for a couple of hours and already I feel at home in this house.

My guess is that Judah is to blame for that.

He makes everything feel good.

Chapter Five

Judah

Nora is all that I can think about.

Is she comfortable?

Are we keeping her longer than she wants to stay?

How much more togetherness can I handle before I lose my mind and kiss her?

Once we finished our pizzas, the three of us sit on the couch together. Busy snuggles right in between us, a blanket thrown over her little legs. Her head is in Nora’s lap and her feet are thrown onto mine.

She begged us to turn Moana on, which we obliged.

But we are only about three minutes into the movie and Busy’s eyes are already shut.

I wrap my arm around the back of the couch, dangerously close to Nora’s shoulder.

I could try something right now.

And if she is not interested, I’ll stop and we can pretend nothing ever happened.

I’m crossing into dangerous territory.

Nora is my daughter’s coach, temporarily.

But… it is just temporary.

But… I’m afraid of hurting Busy.

Already, she likes Nora too much. What happens if I something with Nora and it blows up in my face? What happens if we date and Busy gets attached and—

I am overthinking this.

I need to relax.

I need to turn off my brain.

So, I move my hand upward and I rub Nora’s shoulder with my hand.

She turns to me slowly, a smile crossing over her face.
