Chapter 14 – Sasha

“Trish!” I yelled, running to my friend as she hugged me tight. “Are you okay?”

Five minutes ago, I arrived at a warehouse, the gated lot full of Scorpion members that were heavily armed and ready for a confrontation. I heard multiple voices and conversations as well as the click of ammunition being loaded. Acid had dumped my ass into the back of a black van with tinted windows and secured my wrists with zip ties. He confiscated my phone, so I had no clue what time it was or how long we had been on the road. To make matters worse, I was blindfolded until the moment I was shoved into this room.

“Sasha!” Trish’s voice was concerned as we managed an awkward hug. “I’ve been better. How are you, honey?”

“Not good,” I admitted.

Acid hadn’t removed the zip ties, but the hood was yanked over my head before he left and locked the door, issuing a warning for us to remain quiet and not to piss him off. I didn’t recognize the empty office we were in but that didn’t mean we weren’t at their compound.

Looking her over, I noticed several bruises, a busted lip that was healing, a

nd a few scratches. She winced as she moved around, and I caught the flash of pain that briefly crossed her face.

“What happened? Who hurt you?”

“Dawg doesn’t like the word no,” she spat, sitting down with her back against the far wall. Only one window in this small, empty room.

I peeked outside and found a significant drop below to the asphalt parking lot, only a few sporadic bushes lined up along the edge of the building. More weeds than anything else.

Sinking next to my friend on the hard concrete, I reached for her hand. “Did he force you?”

She snorted. “I managed to avoid being raped but that didn’t mean I don’t know the taste of his nasty dick.”

Relieved he didn’t force her into sex, I exhaled slowly. Anger still made my words harsh. “Fuck that. You should have bitten it off.”

“He’s in pain,” she assured me.

The thought made me smile. “I want to make them all suffer.”

“You and me both,” Trish assured me. “Acid most of all. He’s a worthless piece of shit.”

“I know.” Sighing, I leaned my head on her shoulder. “Have you tried to get away?”

“There’s no where to go even if I didn’t break an ankle trying to jump out the window.”

“Too many Scorpions around,” I acknowledged. “Any other ideas?”

“I’ve seen the back entrance. If we could bust out of this room, we might be able to reach a vehicle and escape. Of course, we need keys and I don’t where to get them.”

Shit. “Alright. Let’s think through. First, how do we get out of this room?”

“The door is always locked. We could try to overpower one of them if they come in alone.”

“I won’t be much help.” Lifting my hands, I reminded her of the zip ties. “These are a pain in the ass.”

“There’s nothing in this room but an empty desk in the corner. Acid has made me sit on the cold concrete for days. My ass is permanently frozen.”

Her joke caused my lips to lift in a tiny smile. We both shivered as the temperature seemed to drop. A draft was allowing freezing air to pass through the multiple cracks in the walls and the poor insulation. Before I could speak, the door opened. Acid walked into the room with a smug smile on his deformed face. A long scar ran down the left side and tugged his eye lower than normal. Recognizing my handiwork, I smiled evilly.

He moved aside as Dawg and Zook entered, followed by a ghost from my past. Hector Vasquez. The drug dealer that my sister skipped town on and never repaid, claiming she owned him two grand for compensation. Suraya denied any involvement, but I think she either pocketed the drugs, lost them, or sold them without giving him the money. I hated to think that she used any of the coke he was pushing but I really didn’t have a clue.

“Sasha Pratt, what a pleasure.”

“I wish I could say the same, Hector.”

He chuckled, spreading his arms wide. “Did you really think you could run far enough that I wouldn’t find you? Did your sister think I wouldn’t track her down? There’s no where you can hide from el maestro.”
