“What?” My eyes met Zachary’s, questioning him on what Dominic was talking about. He knew more than he let on. He always did. But he never said a word. And for a second, I hated him a little.
“Don’t you remember, Alice? Don’t you remember what you did?”
“That’s enough!”Zachary bellowed and stormed out of the room, leaving me utterly alone.
The sound of Dominic’s eerie laugh surrounded me on all sides. “I’ll be back, Alice. And when we meet next, you and I will have our little talk.”
I waited to see if something would happen. If another word would be spoken, but the silence consumed me as it lingered for long minutes that morphed into hours.
No one came in. No one checked to see if I was still alive.
As I lay back against the lonely chair, I knew I was destined to remain this way indefinitely.
Chapter 14
Alice
My heart poundsas I spin around in a circle, my breaths coming in harsh and quick gasps. I’m afraid as I take in the dark alley and broken street lamps. There’s barely any light as I peer cautiously into the darkness. Shards of glass are scattered across the pavement as I stand in bare feet, blood dripping from my fingertips while my entire body shudders. A chill breeze blows the silky white negligee around my slender body and blasts droplets of icy water into the spaces that are ripped open against my skin.
I have no idea why I’m here.
Gazing around, I hear the unmistakable hiss of a small animal. As the noise grows louder, so does the dark shadow it casts against the brick wall. Stumbling back, I scream as the animal moves forward, large and menacing, determined to cause harm. At first, all I see is shiny dark fur but then the features of the cat become visible. Silvery whiskers twitch against a pink nose as the feline stretches and then turns my way. I catch the greenish yellow gloss of his eyes as they focus on my presence. One paw lifts as sharp claws catch the meager light.
He hisses again and leaps forward as I scream again and spin, my eyes darting across dark corners, looking for a quick escape. My mind is frantic to flee from the danger and I run down the alley, slipping and sliding on the mucky water and drains. Up ahead is a door, and I yank it open, darting inside as the loud thumping of bass music beats against my chest. The cat howls behind me and I run through the crowd of dancing and gyrating bodies, fearful I’ll be caught by those sharp claws.
I run towards a black metal door, the brick building behind it casting me into darkness. Yanking at it desperately it finally gives, sending me sprawling into a brightly lit room. People are scattered about the interior as they engage in various sex acts. My eyes roam over the males and quickly dismiss them but it’s the look on the girls’ faces that draw my attention. Their eyes are glassy, losing focus as they zone out. Many grimace in pain or look down to the ground meekly. Each and every one is being fucked mercilessly.
