“I said to keep her out of this.” She was the last untouched and pure thing in my life. I needed her to remain that way. Purity? It meant a lot more than I could ever reveal.

“Her name, Alice. What is her name?”

I glared at him as an overwhelming desire to cause pain rattled throughout my body. My head wrapped around a dark act, one that involved the Doctor lying unmoving on the ground. The thought was both shocking and unnerving and I shook the impulse away, staring at my chained wrists for a long silent moment.

“Will I always be confined to this chair?”

“That’s up to you, Alice.”

I looked at him then and wondered what it was about the doctor that made me want to trust him. “Will you help me go back?”

“Why do you want to get back so badly?”

“Because I want to know what happened to me. Ineedto know so that I can move on.”

“In order to do that, we need to go back to the beginning, Alice. Are you willing to do that?”

I shook my head. “Why?”

“Because it’s the only way for me to help you. I need you to retrace those misguided steps and lead me into your world.”

“But how do I know you’ll lead me where I need to go?”

“Do you trust me, Alice?”

“I don’t know,” I whispered, confusion lingering in my head. I needed to find the missing pieces that were disjointed in my head. How did I become trapped in this rundown facility, with its chipped painted walls, and deteriorating corridors? What happened to block my memories? I needed to get my life back. Ineededto know the truth.

“Why don’t you drink your tea?” He lifted his own cup and took a sip as those mesmerizing eyes of his watched me intently.

For some reason, I did what he asked, letting the soothing aroma envelop my senses. My body lightened, the hostility of moments ago vanishing as my fingertips began to tingle.

“Let’s start by showing me what you call home. Show me Wonderland, Alice.”

His voice sounded distorted, deep, and although I knew what was happening, I still let his voice guide me back to the beginning. “Show me the world you so badly want to return to. Tell me how you came to be there.”

In my stupor, mixed with the lull of his voice, I began to fall.

He willed me so expertly into that deep sleep that I followed through with his commands.

And down to Wonderland I go

To lose my mind and find my soul.

“Come play, Alice.”

The soft masculine voice lures me forward as my body unconsciously moves to a sensual rhythm. There’s a pulse to the air that crackles with an underlying current of ecstasy. It’s wrapped up in delicious jolts of static electricity that zips and zings down my spine. Colors swirl in a rainbow of delight as I tilt my head and pause, breathing in the fragrance of jasmine, exotic spices, and a hint of new leather. Glints of emerald float beneath my heavy eyelids and my body drops, until I’m falling. Falling back into a world that I once wanted so desperately to leave, it seems to have a hold on me, and I can’t escape.

“Come to me, Alice.”

I spin with a slight giggle and continue the slow, languid movements of my hips as they glide across the plush carpet that sinks in between my bare toes. I’m fully aware that the choices I make this night will forever dictate my future. I can’t help my curiosity or the raw need that thrums inside my lower belly and settles hypnotically down into my core.

Alice . . .

The voice commands and I follow.

All inhibition flees along with the knowledge of right and wrong. There’s nothing to fear here. No hesitation. Only the pursuit of undisguised pleasure.
