“Right now, I only want you to go mad,” she assured him.

“I already have.”

He let out a guttural groan as he drove his lips down to hers, claiming them for himself as he tugged at her nipples, rubbing his hardened shaft against her jeans.

She was about to finish before they even started.

Was that even possible?

It seemed it was.

Darius, still grinding his hips against hers, broke free from their kiss as he slid his fingers up and along her neck, his attention drawn to it.

It almost took her too long to notice how zoned in he was on her neck.

Almost.

His eyes pinned on her neck, his pupils began dilating at the sight of it.

Realization struck her. “Off.Now,”she commanded as the reminder of what he was hit her like a ton of bricks. He was a vampire and vampires craved blood above all else. She wasn’t naive. Vampires were addicted to blood, mindlessly sucking the life out of others.

And Eva almost let him do exactly that to her.

His focus shifted to her face, surprise lighting his features. “What?”

“Now!” She managed to push him away. She knew she was nowhere near strong enough to physically push him away, so she was completely aware of the fact that he allowed her to, backing up by his own choice.

“I don’t understand…” He began.

Of course he didn’t. Feeding off others may be common practice in his life, but it wasn’t in hers. She wasnotgoing to allow a vampire to pierce her neck. Not today. Not ever.

Eva pointed a finger to her neck, sitting up as she did. “You were about to drink from me! I saw it in your eyes!” She waited for a response from him, hoping he would deny it. He didn’t. “Iknewit!”

“I’m a vampire, Eva. It’s what we do,” he spoke frankly. It was as if she should have expected to be bitten by him.

Well, shedidn’t!

“I’m not a vampire. It’s not whatIdo!” She jumped off the bed and crossed the room.

“It’s what you do when you’re a vampire’s lifeblood.”

He couldn’t be serious. “I didn’tchooseto be your lifeblood!”

“I didn’t choose this either, but here we are.” He sounded disappointed that fate paired the two of them together. Great, he was still upset to be locked in this thing called life with her.

Now she had one vampire set on abusing her for the rest of her life, and another who was determined to feed off her despite wanting nothing to do with her! Talk about hitting an all time low.

Eva was the queen of experiencing lows, but this hit an entirely new level.

“You’re a prick!” Eva screamed, infuriated. She found a decorative pillow sitting on a chair beside her and yanked it up, throwing it in his direction. He caught it with ease.

“I’m the only prick who’s on your side,” he reminded her, tossing the pillow onto the bed. “I’ll give you time to cool off, but when I return Iwillget what I want.” He stormed for the door. She wasn’t the one who needed to cool off.Hewas.

“Oh yeah, and what’s that?” She called to him, still furious.

The door slammed behind him, but not before he shouted, “You!”
