How could she remain angry with him afterthat?

“The bartender raises an alarm whenever someone asks about the werewolves living uphill.” The white haired man standing beside the sorceress spoke up.

“Well, you got here fast as hell.” They couldn’t have been in that bar any longer than ten minutes.

The girl shrugged. “We have our ways.”

Eva slowly nodded. It probably had something to do with the girl’s newfound powers. “Anyway,” Eva stepped forward, bringing out her hand, offering it to them. “I’m Eva. This is Darius. I know this might seem a bit out of the blue, but Ihavemet you once before. If that helps.”

The girl in front of her grinned, reaching out her hand and shaking Eva’s. “I remember you. I don’t think I could ever forget your face, though I couldn’t remember your name for the life of me. I racked my mind over your prediction for years.Your future lies somewhere in the green mountains, you told me. It was incredibly vague.”

Eva shrugged. “If I had said you were destined to become a sorceress and live a life with werewolves, would you have believed me?”

She chuckled, shaking her head. “Definitely not.” Releasing her hand from Eva’s she said, “I’m Kelly. This is Sebastian.” She nodded to the young, white haired man.

Sebastian stepped forward, offering his hand as well. Eva took it. “Nice to meet you two.” Then he offered it to Darius, who took it, though his expression was riddled with suspicion. He had no reason to trust these two. Neither did Eva, but Eva saw no other option.

The girl ran a finger through her hair. “So, you helped lead me to my future a while back, but now it looks like you need our help. Honestly, I’m not sure what help I can offer. I’ll try.”

“You have everything to offer. We’re on the run and have nowhere to go. We’re hiding from other unnatural beings.”

“Which unnatural beings?” Sebastian asked.

“Well, um…” Eva fumbled over her words, not knowing how to word it so it didn’t make protecting them sound as dangerous as it was.

“All of them,” Darius grimly said. No bullshit, as usual. “Others want Eva for her power, and we need to hide until we figure out what our next steps are.”

Next steps? Eva didn’t even think that far. She just wanted to find a safe place to stay. The last thing she wanted was to be killed by Hella or captured by Artem.

“You’re that sorceress everyone is looking for. The other sorceresses want you dead, don’t they?” Kelly asked. Eva didn’t hesitate before nodding. She was almost positive this girl had no affiliation with the sorceress community. “We’re not too fond of those sorceresses either.” Kelly looked up at Sebastian. “Are we?” Kelly’s words allowed Eva to breathe normally again.

Eva was right to believe this woman wasn’t involved with the sorceress community.

“Screw those women. Sadistic fucks.” After Sebastian spoke Eva could’ve sworn she heard Darius let out a breath that he seemed to be holding in much too long. Same as her.

“Told you we could trust them, didn’t I?” Eva smirked Darius’ way.

“I never doubted you.”

Eva quirked a brow. He might not havesaidhe doubted her, but he totally did. It was written all over his face.

Kelly looked up to the man beside her. “What do you say? Can we help them?”

Sebastian pressed a gentle hand to Kelly’s cheek, looking deep into her eyes with a sort of affection that made Eva swoon. Then, he turned to Eva and said, “Your fortune helped bring Kelly to me. I owe you everything for that.”

Eva wanted to let them know that they would’ve found each other whether Eva predicted Kelly’s future or not. But she decided now wasn’t the best time to admit such things. She was totally fine with them believing Eva did them a favor.

“Does that mean you’ll help?”

Sebastian opened his mouth, prepared to respond, but it was Kelly who spoke first. Lifting her hands in glee she announced, “Welcome to Castle Brannack!”
