Tipping my head back, I watch the silhouette of the three saviors ascend toward the sky.

They steal my angel-girl from us.

Micah hangs with his arms over his head, keeping his head bowed. I want nothing more than to make him suffer for his brethren kidnapping Raven, but I need him. He knows where they are, and he can take us to them. And when he does, those fucking saviors will break. I will take their wings and drag them to Hell myself for even touching Raven.

Striding across the empty apartment, I growl and summon red fire in my palms. The angels were stupid shits, not even realizing they were thirty feet from Micah.

Micah lifts his head, remaining expressionless.

“This could all be over if you just say the fucking word, Micah,” I say, stopping a foot away from him. Shifting the fire from my palm, I light my finger like a candle and trace his jaw, searing his skin. “Bow to Hell, and you can have everything you desire. Just imagine how satisfying it’ll be sinking your cock into Raven’s tight pussy. If you think touching her soul feels good, you have no idea.”

“I don’t want to use her like you do. The only thing I desire is to save her soul and get her away from Hell. She deserves more from her eternity. You know she does.” Micah locks his shimmering gold eyes on mine, pursing his lips. “It’s why I’m here. You’re afraid of what Lucifer plans to do. But I don’t have to bow for you to save her. Just do the right thing.”

Fury whips through me, and I jab my fist into his gut. Heaving, he rattles the chains and coughs. “You don’t even know what that is, Micah. And saving her from Hell? Fuck that. You only want to save her to keep her for yourself. What happens if you somehow manage this impossible miracle? Would you leave her to live out her life, or would you stick around and stalk her? Hope she falls in love with you? Maybe let you get your dick wet until the saviors come for you?”

“It’s not about sex,” he responds, scowling.

“Soul fucking is basically the same damn thing. You won’t be able to resist.” I grab him by the throat and squeeze. “Admit it. You’re a glutton for her. All these days you’ve spent obsessing and wanting more and more of her has left the brethren afraid. They took her, you know. They think it’ll somehow get you to return to good grace.”

Micah stiffens, his eyes bulging, but not from the constriction on his neck. His expression says everything. It’s in this moment I realize that nothing I can do will cause Micah to jump. He was holding onto hope and faith that he’d figure this out. Now? I watch as that hope slips through his fingers.

“If they find out who she is...” Micah squeezes his eyes shut. “Please help us.”

I punch him in the face, anger turns my vision red with hellfire. “Who are you praying to? You think the Higher Power listens? Do you think that someone will help you?”

Hanging his head, Micah doesn’t respond, aggravating me even more. I grab the chains and rip them from the ceiling. Micah drops to the floor. He doesn’t try to fight and accepts my wrath knowing he damn well deserves this punishment.

“If you would’ve had faith in our plan from the beginning, we wouldn’t be in this position, Micah. You betrayed us. You betrayed me!” I whip my tail across his chest, slashing his skin. “Now look at all the pain you’ve caused Raven. We wouldn’t have needed her if you and the brethren followed through, or has it been so long that you’ve forgotten?”

Groaning, he tips his head up at me. “It wasn’t my path.”

“But it was. It always has been. You’ve just prolonged mortal misery, and now Raven will see the wrong side of Hell because of your shortcomings.” My wrath controls me, and I whip him again, wanting him to pay for failing the most intoxicating soul I’ve ever felt. The most beautiful woman I’ve ever kissed. Tasted. Fucked. He’s failed his true mission, and in doing so, screwed over the woman who was going to help change things.

I want to kill him.

I want to cut off his wings like he severed mine.

“You have to let me go, Kase. I can’t let that happen to her. Please. I’m begging you to give me the chance to save her soul. I know you want it, but it isn’t yours. It’s hers.” Micah presses his palms together and holds my gaze.

Fucking angel tears.

It takes everything in me not to smile. This is exactly what I wanted. Micah is so convinced that he can save Raven that he might do anything.

“Tell you what, Micah. I’ll make you a deal.” I have to get something out of entrusting my angel-girl in his incapable hands. I don’t need a deal, but it would be unlike me if I didn’t get everything I wanted. “If you agree to my terms, I’ll let you attempt to save Raven’s soul.”

“I’m not bowing to Hell. I know you don’t want her sent to Hell as much as I don’t,” he mutters, ruffling his feathers, acting as if I slide my tail up his ass.

I groan and scrub my cheeks with the heels of my hands. “Fine, I guess I could accept something else.” Twisting on my feet, I peer over my shoulder for no other reason than to prolong his torment. “How about when you save Raven, you bring her to me for one last fuck. I want you to see what you’ll spend the rest of eternity wishing you experienced just once...could’ve been the best ten seconds of your existence, Virgin Micah.”

“Agree. Now free me. I must find her.” Micah rattles the chains.

“You’re taking me with you.” I grab the chains and wrap them around my hands.

Micah tries to yank away, but I reel him toward me. Clenching his teeth, he looks ready to try to blast my ass to Hell with heavenly light. “You can’t—“

The apartment door flings open, clattering against the wall. Dante’s tall frame hovers in the doorway, the setting sun lighting him in a fiery glow. Cracking his neck, he silently tries to get me to leave Micah.
