Hiking up my dress, he moans at the sight of my g-string as he stretches my leg onto his shoulder. I tighten my fingers through his hair and gasp before his tongue even touches me. A strange haze fogs the world around me, and I blink at the glowing light emanating from a blurry figure at the mouth of the alley.

“Dante?” I moan, my voice barely managing to escape my mouth. “I think I’m hallucinating.”

“It’s my venom. Some escapes me with my cum,” he responds, stopping to peer up at me. “What do you see?”

“A wingless angel.” I blink my eyes, trying to force the figure to disappear. “Or maybe he’s angel-kissed like m—”

“I cast you back to Hell, demon,” a sharp voice snaps, cutting off my words.

Cool water splashes over me and Dante, and Dante launches to his feet, transforming into his hellish beast. Aiming a strange gun at me, the glowing man pulls the trigger and sends an arrow into my upper arm. Agony bursts through me. Locked to the end of the arrow hangs a rope that tightens as the man tries to reel me to him. Dante growls and locks his fingers to the rope, setting his hand ablaze.

“I cast you back to Hell,” the man repeats, shaking more liquid at us, burning Dante.

My head spins, dizziness washing over me. I can’t open my mouth to scream. I can’t even raise my heavy arms to fight. I blink again, and the world shifts. I stare at Dante fighting against a flaming barrier. Why is he so far? What’s happening?

A car door slams, and it takes a few seconds to process that I’m sprawled across the backseat of a piece of junk car. I sit up, my senses returning to me. I thrash, trying to free my hands from a pair of cuffs, but I’m not strong enough.

The world speeds by as the man stomps the throttle.

“Where are you taking me? What have you done to Dante?” I ask, focusing on the rearview mirror, but I can’t see anything except the man’s glowing skin, far too bright to see his features.

He ignores me and jerks the wheel, sending me crashing into the door. “Hey, it’s Elias. I have her. Text me the drop off point. I’ll be there soon.”

Elias? Drop off point? Fuck. “Elias? You’re Elias?” I ask, trying to unscramble my thoughts. I’ve heard the name before, but where?

And then it dawns on me. He’s the savior responsible for my angel-kissed soul. He loved me in another life until he fell...which means he’s a devil.

The vehicle screeches to a stop, and the man flings open the door and grabs me from the backseat. I scream in pain, my soul lighting with my anguish. I don’t understand any of this.

“Elias, please. Tell me what’s going on? Why are you doing this? Don’t you know who I am?” I lie helpless as the man drags me across a rundown parking lot.

Releasing me, he drops me on my back and glares down at me, the sun haloing him in light. “Of course I know who you fucking are. You’re the woman who’s going to get me back into God’s good grace.”

“What?”

He shoves a wadded piece of fabric in my mouth. “No talking. No crying. No calling out to your masters. If you can follow those rules, I won’t hurt you. Understand?”

Tears burn my eyes, and I nod my head.

“Good. Now don’t move.” Elias leans down and grabs my chin, peering into my eyes. “I need to get everything ready.”
