My hand jerks out before my mind has a moment to process, and I grab Raven by the back of her shirt and haul her away from him. My heavenly light blasts out, keeping him back, and he morphs into his devil form. So do the other devils.

“Everyone, calm down. It’s fine. Come on, Andre, let’s go.” Raven’s voice sharpens with her words. “Cassius, quit it with that light before I extinguish it. If you can’t keep yourself in control, we aren’t doing this and you will have to go.”

“I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened. I won’t do it again. Please, let’s just get Elias and move on. Once I do, I will not return here. I won’t bother you again.” I stiffen with my words, the thought paining me more than I imagined it would.

Raven remains expressionless, and she detaches herself from me and walks to Andre. The fires of Hell course around us as the other devils watch us leave. I’m surprised that they let Raven control them as she does. I can tell they are unhappy that she has requested privacy with me and Andre, yet they don’t argue. It’s strange. A bit unsettling. But then again, Raven happens to be the most mesmerizing woman in the universe. And it has taken me far too long to realize that. I see it now though. If only we were on the same side. If only we had the same path.

Time will tell if we will eventually come together as one.

“I need you to lay on the bed on the other side of Raven. She will open her soul to you, but I swear to Hell if you try anything, I will destroy you. You do not have to participate with us, but I know that Raven thinks that you can help.” Andre points to the bed. “You will guide us once we get connection.”

I nod. “Yes. I know where he is. I won’t let you down.”

Raven shifts on her elbows, sitting up. She pats the spot beside her, and I carefully ease onto the bed, managing to keep space between us. I wish I could steal the blanket to cover myself, or that Andre will give me a minute to put some pants on, but he nestles beside Raven and pulls her close. The weight of their bodies together forces me over and I end up flush against Raven’s body.

“Raven, close your eyes. We’re going to go into a meditative state, okay?” Andre softens his voice with his words, stroking his fingers over her forehead and down her eyelids until she relaxes beneath his touch.

I tense as I watch him caress her in ways that I wish I could. He is far more gentle than Lucian and Kase were. It helps ease the anxiety rolling through me. I don’t know if I can handle watching her be manhandled again. She deserves to be cared for like the pure soul she is.

“Go on, Cassius. Open yourself to both of us.” Andre remains even-toned, though I know he doesn’t want to open himself to me. He doesn’t want to feel the sting of my light or be reminded of Heaven and everything that he gave up taking a throne in Hell.

I inhale a deep breath, filling my lungs to the brim until I can’t suck in anymore, and then I slowly release it and feel my body lightening and my anxiety easing as Raven’s warmth, light and darkness, and soul seep into me as if I’m a sieve and she wants to merge our bodies and beings together.

A moan escapes my lips, and a wave of desire burns over me. It doesn’t hurt me like it should. Raven’s light is enough to extinguish the fire of Andre’s power coursing through me. I clench at the sensation of his lust smacking me right in the balls. I was more concerned about opening myself up to Raven again when I should’ve been concerned about Andre. It feels as if I was sucked into the vortex of desire and I will die if I can’t find pleasure.

“Damn, Andre. What are you doing to us?” Raven’s voice sounds everywhere as if she speaks in my mind and out loud.

“That’s Cassius. If it’s too much, I can see what I can do again.” Amid the darkness, a bright flash of fire grows until Andre materializes before me with Raven by his side.

I clutch my cock at his words. “Please don’t.”

“Then learn how to control yourself.” Andre flashes me his devil form with his threat. “Everyone must be grounded and tethered or else this isn’t going to work.”

I suck in another deep breath and force away the strange, intoxicating desire deep inside me. Raven catches my hand and offers me a smile. As if the beauty of her face can distract me from the feeling of our emotions intertwining, I manage to suppress my urge to kiss her and finally see the beautiful world around us as it is. I thought that Andre would create some sort of nightmare world, but this is identical to his sanctuary in Heaven. He always had a thing for beautiful landscapes, and instead of the quiet isolation of the pure white buildings, he always chose to be amid sprawling greens and flowers. Blue skies and bright sun. It showed his connection and appreciation of the Mortal Realm and how he brought it into Heaven.

“I think we are good now.” Raven squeezes my hand again, studying my face for a moment.

Andre steps forward and grabs me by the chin, dragging my attention from Raven. “I need you to tap into Heaven. Use Raven’s soul very carefully.”

I lick my lips and bob my head, reaching out and pressing my fingers to Raven’s chest, feeling the light within her very being as it strikes me to my core in a way that leaves me yearning for more.

Haze drifts over the world as bright light rains down like mesmerizing stars showering from the sky. Raven intakes a sharp breath and nearly cuts off the circulation in my fingers with how tightly she holds my hand. She uses her Hell strength to do so as if she might fall into the strange abyss surrounding us as the dreamworld vanishes and leads us in what I can only describe is another realm of Hell. One not connected to the Mortal Realm, nor to Heaven. I nearly lose my nerve and release Raven and Andre, because I realize how fucking crazy this is. This world is Elias’s prison. I know it is. I can feel the angelic power creating this horrendous place, tapping into the darkness that Raven carries. They use his connection to Raven to torture him as if they are the devils.

Fury rolls through me and I glower and spread my wings, my whole body tensing at the sight before me. A shadowy figure sits on the ground with his knees pulled to his chest. Only a small glow of his heavenly light shines through the strange darkness of this place.

“What in godforsaken Hell is this?” Andre uses his free hand to rub his hand over his hair. “I don’t understand.”

“Are we still in Hell?” Raven asks, her eyes darting around and squinting as she tries to figure out where we are. “It feels wrong.”

How am I going to tell her that the angelic army not only captured Elias and is keeping them apart, but they are torturing him by imprisoning him in this place? It makes me question everything. I am on Heaven’s side. There’s no doubt about that. But them? Who are they fighting for? Because this isn’t for humanity or the Higher Power.

“This is Heaven,” I say, keeping my voice even. It pains me to even say the words, and I considered lying about it, but Raven isn’t stupid. She would’ve known immediately, the second she saw Elias.

“You’re shitting me?” Raven asks as she gets to her feet and pulls Andre up with her, forcing me to stand at the same time. My whole body trembles and fear tightens my chest. Heaven help me. Your Almighty Grace, what do I do? How do I handle this? I know this wasn’t in your plan.

“Hello?” Elias’s voice sounds through the air, drawing everyone’s attention to his shadowy figure. “Is someone there? Let me the fuck out of here. I don’t belong here. This is some fucked up bullshit, and if you don’t, I will figure out how to escape and you will be in fucking trouble.”

“Elias? Holy fuck. Shit.” Raven tries to yank from us, but both Andre and I tighten our fingers around her petite hands. “What have they done? What are you even doing here?”
