I roar, my rage taking over the playfulness Raven aroused in me, and I nudge her toward Elias and charge toward the angelic infiltrator before he tries to fuck shit up. They still cling on to their light for a couple seconds after entering my kingdom.

I close the space and grab the guardian by the front of his torn shirt and haul him into the air, smashing his back to my palace wall. “You are going to fucking—”

He bares his teeth. “Wait, Lucifer. I have a message.”

I swing my fist and punch the angel in the face, breaking his nose. “We punish messengers in my kingdom. Obliterate them. There is nothing any of us wants to hear from the angelic army.”

“Elias! Elias! Stop him. This involves you. I have come with a bargain. Please, hear me out.” The bastard angel shouts in pain and struggles, ignoring my threats and trying to get Elias’s attention.

And fuck.

It works.

Elias comes up behind me and grabs me by the shoulder, getting me to drop the forsaken bastard to the ground. I don’t let him go anywhere though, smashing my foot into his leg and pinning him. He hollers and tries to blast me with heavenly light that doesn’t come. The satisfaction at his realization courses through me. It’s like a fucking drug getting me high. I love when they realize they’ve made a mistake. These kinds of sacrifices aren’t worth it. His self-sacrifice doesn’t get him a ticket back into Heaven. Not like Elias had gotten. The angel had selfish motives with his descent.

“You have two minutes. Tell me what this is about, and I will make your end quick.” Raven gets in front of Elias, not letting him speak to the angel.

I groan deep in my throat, loving how she just grabs the situation away from the both of us, taking control. I’m not one to be a switch, but I might try just for her.

Maybe she can call me her good boy.

Raven nudges the angel with her foot, getting his attention. “You’re wasting time,” she adds when he’s not quick to respond.

The fucker purses his lips and shifts his gaze from her to Elias. “This is for him. Not you.”

Raven tenses with her rage, and she summons angelic light and blasts it at his chest, burning his shirt and pecs in the process. “He’s mine, which makes it for me. You have one minute.”

I reach down and slash my claws across his chest, making him scream out. “I advise you listen to our queen.”

The angel releases a breath, his face twisting in annoyance, but he doesn’t argue. Looking at Elias for a second, he silently makes sure that he’s paying attention, still not giving Raven his complete focus.

I glance at Elias, and he shakes his head at me. He doesn’t want me to hurt the bastard anymore, because he does want to hear what he has to say. It just pisses me off that he speaks to Raven like that. I’m kind of curious too, but I’m not going to let on.

“I’ve been sent by Mikail. He realizes the error of his last deal and would like to offer another one. He realizes how obsessed Hell is with Raven, so he is willing to give you her soul as long as it does not return to her mortal body. You must also return to Heaven and remain there. You are not to access any realms. Hell will not rise with the seven sinners. If you do not agree, the purging will begin. The universe will be reset, and there’s nothing any of you can do about it.” He flicks his gaze from Raven and back to Elias, being a little shithead and purposely talking to him instead of telling Raven what Mikail wants.

“You’re saying that Hell can have Raven’s soul if I return to Heaven?” Elias asks, his voice softening. “Just like that? What about the twins?”

“They will go wherever their Higher Power intends for them.” The angel once again looks to Raven.

Silence falls between us, and Raven’s eyes fill with tears.

I blow fire from my mouth, fury rolling through me. “No deal. They can fuck off.”

Elias grabs my shoulder, forcing me to look at him. “You can’t make this decision on behalf of everyone, Lucian.”

Fire crackles in my palms, and it takes everything in me not to blast Elias back. “The fuck I can’t—”

Raven screams, pain and anguish lacing her voice, and I wince. Neither Elias nor I have a chance to do anything as Raven gathers Hell power and angelic light in her palms, creating a giant orb in her hands. She thrusts it at the angel, disintegrating him with power from both realms, turning him into pure energy.

Sparks flicker across her body, and I watch as the energy rolls through her veins, and she concentrates on manifesting it into her palm. I grab onto her in case she shifts realms, and Elias sends blinding light around us. He’s following her wherever she leads, and I was right. The world shifts as we enter a new plane and Raven throws the small stone into the abyss of haze. Spinning, she faces the two of us, tears burning her cheeks as fire lights her eyes.

“We’re not talking about this. We’re not even considering it. I’ll not lose any of you guys. Do you understand?” Raven asks, grabbing both me and Elias by the fronts of our shirts.

The realm changes again, and we end up in the Mortal World, in the basement of the mansion.

“Raven, please. You have to think things through. None of this should be happening to you, and it’s my fault.” Elias softens his voice even more, knowing that she will explode at any second.

She spins and jabs him in the chest. “I won’t lose you. We’ll figure this out. Now, don’t bring it up again. We need to practice. We’re going to break into Heaven before it’s the last thing I ever do.”
