“Always. I’m about to kick everyone out of the bunker to get the rest of the day alone with you. They could all use a good run themselves.” Adam winks at me, twining his fingers through mine.

I laugh, my voice echoing through the air. “Maybe it will remind them that there’s more to life than giving me orgasms.”

Adam raises an eyebrow. “Not yet. Maybe when we get to meet our babies. right now, it’s about you and taking care of you how you take care of us.”

He slows down. Getting me to follow his lead, he cuts away from the path, tugging me deeper into the forest. Spinning me, he rests his hands on my hips. I stretch up and brush my lips to his, knowing that the affection will set me off again. My body can never get enough. It’s getting easier to ignore the constant desire and pain of needing relief, but the second any of my guys give me an ounce of affection, I need a gallon more.

“Careful, pup. You’re getting her worked up, and my dick is going to fall off if I rub it anymore today.” Ravi steps through the trees, snapping branches that get in his way. “We need to have a pack meeting to prepare. Everyone is waiting.”

“Goddamn it. It can’t wait a bit longer? I still have time left.” Adam narrows his eyes, glowering at Ravi. Part of our living arrangements means that I split my time between all my guys, ensuring I give them all private attention. My idea, not theirs. They’d prefer to all have my attention all the time. Sloan even asked for a day for girl time. I’ve never had a friend like her before, and I appreciate her for teaching me things the men never even think of.

“You can have part of my next day, horn-dog.” Speaking of Sloan... She grins as she strolls behind Adam, dragging her knuckles through his hair. “Ten minutes should suffice.”

I cover his mouth with my finger, stopping him from saying some smartass remark. “Adam appreciates your sacrifice.”

Sloan tips her head back and laughs. “He better. We were going to head into town to go shopping. Maybe get our nails done. Have a spa day. It’s nice getting paid again and being able to buy my own things without having to fight for them.”

I suck in my bottom lip, keeping it from quivering. A part of me is jealous that Sloan managed to get at least a small part of her life back. It’s strange to think about, but we all agreed that it is best for me to remain hidden. Just in case. I need to remain a missing person, I mean, if anyone ever reported it. Sloan was able to get her legal documents again. Adam had his here. Davian and Chase chose not to because of their issues with the human law. Tristan and Evander are still waiting to decide. As for Kellan, Ravi, and Slater? I don’t think they are ready to try. I know a part of them still remains in Shadow Moon. I hope that will change though.

“I love the sound of that,” I say, forcing the words to come from my mouth. I step out of Adam’s hold and sling my arm around Sloan’s shoulders, guiding her away before he tries to trap me again. I won’t even fight. “You’re my best friend. You know that right?”

Sloan beams me a bright smile. “I love hearing that. Who else is going to give you a break from all that cock? I expect you to do the same for me.”

Ravi growls. “She doesn’t need a break. She enjoys the attention.”

I roll my eyes at him and wag my finger. “Settle down. She meant that there’s more to life than sex, procreation, and relationships like we have. Sometimes a woman just needs to have a friend she can trust.”

“And Eliana is mine. So shut the fuck up. I can claim her as my bestie. If you’d take a moment to study humans for a bit, you’d understand.” Sloan flips him off and tugs me away, igniting the guys’ instincts to chase after us.

I pick up speed with her, letting her take over, our voices cackling with laughter. Teasing them is so much fun. It helps lighten the cloud constantly hanging over us. Because things have been quiet these last two weeks. No one has bothered us. There’s been no signs of other wolves or mages. There haven’t even been any humans around except for one loan hiker that never even saw us.

A whistle shrieks through the air, and I spot Slater outside of the shed entrance to the bunker. His eyes flash gold, and he opens his arms, inviting me into them.

He has far more restraint than any of my alphas, and I know that he won’t try to seduce me. I know he wants to. It is clear on his body how much my presence alone affects him, but he knows how to control himself. He’s even helping me. Which is why Adam was taking me running. It’s a lot of distraction and staying busy. As long as my mind is elsewhere, I can ignore the pain and ache of my desire.

I jump up, and Slater catches me in his arms, snuggling his face into the crook of my neck, inhaling a deep breath of my scent. My heart beats wildly, my breath panting. Sloan walks past us and to the ladder to go down into the bunker. She whispers that we better not start fucking because she doesn’t want to have to break a dick to free me, and I laugh and smile at Slater.

“I got you, pup. I’ll keep all of the bastards away.” Slater’s big hand massages down my back, pulling me even closer. “It’ll be worth the wait, you know.”

His whisper sends a shiver through me, and I can’t help myself from tilting my head and kissing him softly at first, sensually, just tasting and testing him.

A guttural growl reverberates through my bones, coming from within the bunker. Sloan’s voice startles me. I haven’t heard her challenge anybody like this in a while. She hasn’t been a wolf. But now?

Slater shudders, his muscles spasming, and I tense as his wolf tries to break free. My chest tightens. A pulse of magic shocks me, stealing my breath. I would recognize it anywhere. I shouldn’t be surprised either. Theodore promised to see me before the full moon. I was just hoping that maybe he couldn’t actually come here.

Releasing a long, deep howl, Slater uses his human voice to alert the others. Ravi and Adam charge up, their faces twisted in fear and anger. Kellan comes from around the shed with Davian by his side. Evander, Tristan, and Chase growl from somewhere nearby, also triggered into shifting into wolves even before the moon.

“My pet, get your pack in control. You knew I would be visiting,” Theodore says, his voice projecting into my mind. “It’s important. I’m already using enough magic for even humans to take notice.”

I swallow hard, my voice sticking in my throat. “Don’t attack. It’s only Theodore.” I silently think the words instead, hoping that everyone can hear them.

Sloan stops growling, her sudden silence unnerving me. I shimmy out of Slater’s embrace, but he doesn’t let me go into the shed first. He keeps me behind him and enters, telling me to stay in place outside.

A hand touches my shoulder, and I expect it to be Adam or Ravi, but Theodore stands ultra-close behind me, his eyes glowing red. Panic crashes through me. I swing out, getting him to release me. His touch alone sends dread shaking through my body, striking me in the core. Seeing him now in the human world nearly makes me regret ever making a deal with him. I traded some of my strength for passage here, but I never felt any differently. He might be coming to take it now. He was waiting for the full moon to claim me.

“I see that you have managed to keep the alphas away. I was hoping for something different with my arrival.” Theodore shifts his jaw, his face sharpening. “Perhaps next time.”

I crinkle my nose, grimacing with his words. He is fucking twisted. He is no better than the council. Why he would want one of them to knock me up? I don’t want to find out. He’s a creep. A manipulator.
