“Dad, stop,” Holly says, trying to grab him by the shoulder.

He swings his arm and knocks her back, sending her sprawling across the floor. Nobody intervenes. Madame Samara just stands there with her arms folded across her chest. Her pack members stand nearby in silence. The omegas in the club watch in shock and horror. I bet they haven’t seen an alpha treat an omega like this before. Because I know that Madame Samara has brainwashed them with kindness. She would never allow an alpha to hurt one of her precious possessions.

But I don’t belong to her.

I open and close my mouth, trying to gasp in a breath that doesn’t come. He’s not even going to give me the luxury of pleading for my life. I can’t even beg for mercy or explain. He’s too caught up in his wild emotions. The feral, spicy scent of peppers and something more potent like amber and musk steals my senses. It doesn’t help my survival instincts.

“Tell me!” he shouts, spitting in my face with his anger. He’s so lost in his wave of rage that I don’t even think he realizes that I can’t tell him anything.

The world dims as shadows crowd my vision. I never expected to die like this. I never really expected to die at all. I expected to be a servant to one of the Pack Regimes. To be used and abused and mistreated for the rest of my life if I couldn’t maintain my beta persona. But then that all changed when I met the princes of Gilded Sands.

But their father will destroy any chance I have.

I just wish I could see them one more time.

I wish I could apologize for the destruction that followed me.

“Dad! I said, stop!” Holly holds a knife to the king’s neck, nicking his throat with the blade enough to get him to release me.

I drop to the ground and hit my knees hard on the floor. Gasping, I inhale breath after burning breath, my body wanting to curl in on itself. I just want to lose myself to the darkness. I’m too afraid of what happens next.

I can’t believe Holly threatened her own father with a knife on my behalf.

“Kinsey is my friend. She is our family. She was not sent by anyone. If you would just calm down and let us speak, we could tell you as much.” Holly’s hand trembles and she finally lowers the knife, taking a step back. She grips the weapon, her eyes darting from me to her father.

“What did you say?” King Winston asks, his hands clenching into fists, his voice deep with his simmering anger.

“She said Kinsey is ours. We have bonded. We have claimed her as ours. Now, step away. If you have a problem, you need to face me.” Enzo stands in the hallway leading toward the living area.

Wilder, Arsenio, and Desmond appear behind him, their faces all bloody and beaten, bruised and in need of attention from me. My whole body hurts at the sight of their injuries, but my heart fills up with so much joy that they’re here. That they’ve come for us.

Wilder steps past Enzo and strides directly to me, lifting me off the ground and into his arms. He grabs Holly’s hand next and pulls her with him, putting space between us and the king.

Turning his attention to Madame Samara, he says, “We have handled your enemy for taking what doesn’t belong to you. We will consider these omegas as payment for our services.”

What? A dozen questions flit through my mind.

Wilder swivels to his father next. “Now is not the place to discuss family matters. Please join us at our palace tonight, and we will tell you everything. But right now, we need to get out of here. We have only temporarily put a stop to the impending war headed toward our territory.”

Wilder doesn’t wait for King Winston to respond. He heads toward his brothers, not giving anyone a second look. The power he radiates gets to me in a good way, and I bury my face into his throat and inhale a deep breath of his calming scent, my heart finally settling.

“Slow breaths, Kinsey. You’re safe now. We got you.” Wilder strokes his hand across my back, just holding me as Arsenio drapes his arm across Holly’s shoulders, keeping her within his protective shadow.

I lick my lips, my mouth dry from my screaming. From the pain inflicted on me by the king. “What about your dad?” I can’t help asking. I know this isn’t over.

“We will handle him. We’re taking you home,” Arsenio responds, talking for Wilder. “Just let us take care of you.”

I bob my head and rest my cheek against Wilder. “I’d like that. I’ve missed you all so much.”

Enzo kisses the top of my head. “You have no idea how much we’ve missed you. We’ve made it clear that you are ours. And it’s time that the world knows.”

Tears prickle my eyes, but they’re made of pure joy. Full of hope and faith. Full of excitement for my future. I had no idea I’d find a pack with the Gilded Sand princes. I had no idea I’d have a family ever again.

They belong to me. They’re all mine.

Forever.
