I kiss her lips and pet her cheeks. “Did it work? Are you feeling better?”

“So much better. I’ll have to schedule a follow-up appointment.” Natasha pulls back and takes my hand, lifting it to her lips. “Can we please go home now?”

I don’t have to ask what she means by “home.” She’s talking about the lake house. The place where we fell in love, where we became a family with her best friend, my son. I give her hand a gentle squeeze.

“Yes, baby girl. We can go home.”

EPILOGUE

NATASHA

Five years later…

“Now, Natasha…”The gray-haired woman with the kind smile and cat-eye glasses looks up at me from between my legs. “You didn’t request a replacement IUD, is that correct?”

“That’s correct, Dr. Longmire. My husband and I are planning to start a family.”

“How wonderful.”

It is.Wonderful. I sigh contentedly. After five incredible—and incredibly satisfying—years with Evan, we’re finally ready to expand our little family.

“Now that the IUD is out, how soon can I get pregnant?” I ask.

“Depends. How soon can you get home?” Dr. Longmire shoots me a wink. She removes the speculum from my vagina and rolls away from the exam table. “There’s no waiting period, so you could get pregnant immediately.”

“Good to know,” I say, biting back a smile.

The rest of the appointment goes by quickly and smoothly. Once it’s over, I make a left turn out of the exam room and then head upstairs to where they keep the private offices.

On the way up, I get a text from Ollie asking if we’d like to join him and his fiancé for dinner tonight. I fire off a quick “yes” response. Evan will be pleased to see them again so soon after their engagement announcement. He was the one who introduced Ollie to Beckett, after all. Though, I like to think I played a role in emboldening Ollie to pop the question.

Things were undeniably weird right after Evan and I became official. Now that we’re married, I’m technically Ollie’s stepmom, though in practice we’re more like siblings. We haven’t decided whether our baby will relate to Ollie as a brother or an uncle figure, but that’s something I’m confident we can work out. I’ve gotten pretty damn good at this negotiation business, being a professional mediator and all.

I knock softly on my husband’s door in case he’s on the phone.

“Come in,” he calls through the wood.

I step inside his office, and the smile that greets me is like a kiss on the clit.

It’s official, my husband is the hottest doctor on the planet.

“How’d your appointment go?” As soon as I’m close enough, he pulls me onto his lap and peppers my neck with kisses.

“It went really well. Very little discomfort during the removal. Dr. Longmire says we can start trying for a baby immediately.”

“Did she now?” His grin widens.

I gasp as he palms my breasts over my shirt.

“I didn’t meanright now,” I hiss, nodding toward the open door.

“Why not?” He exhales warm breath over my collarbones. “Practice makes perfect. I think we should get in a few practice rounds before we start trying for real.”

“You’re insatiable, Dr. Ransom.”

“So are you, Mrs. Ransom.” He slides the neckline of my shirt to the side, placing a tender kiss on my shoulder.

“When you’re right, you’re right.” I sigh playfully. “Hold on, I’ll shut the door.”
