“Wow!” I breathe. “For a moment, I thought my brothers were playing a welcome-home prank on me.”

Sebastian laughs on the other end, and my stomach swirls with excitement.TheSebastian King is coming here. “This isn’t a prank.”

“Well, I’m glad to hear that. So, we have you booked in?” I ask.

He’s silent for a moment, but I can hear a small child in the background—oh, his sweet girls. I was so sad to hear about the loss of his wife. She was always trackside supporting him whenever she could. Their love was never hidden. She was the first person he went to after winning a race, kissing her and their daughter, and then jumping on his team and celebrating.

“I guess we’ll see you tomorrow.”

My breath seizes in my lungs for a split second. “I look forward to it.” Harley puts that last bit of information and payment details in the computer and then stands, placing his hands on his head.

“Thank you. My friend, Simone, has been on me to stay there. She was just there, and her friends still are.”

“Wow, I’m glad Simone recommended us,” I say.

Harley nods furiously, scribbles down something on a pad near the phone, and holds it up for me to read.

Simone is friends with Spencer Cook’s wife. They’re staying here right now.

My mouth drops open for the second time in the space of ten minutes. Spencer Cook, the famous quarterback, is staying here too?

Sebastian King’s voice pulls me out of my fan craze. “I’ve been meaning to come for a while, but things have been crazy.”

Yeah, I’m sure they have, is what I want to say, but it’s not my place. “I’m sorry to hear that. We’ll have your cabin set up for you to arrive tomorrow.” Keep it together, Delilah. Keep it together. My heartbeats are going crazy. Here I am talking to one of the best drivers in Formula One. I missed seeing him on the track last season.

“That’s great. Thanks so much.”

“Thanks again, Sebastian.”

“Thanks, Delilah. See you then,” he says.

I hang up the phone and release a breath while clutching my chest. Leaning over, I take several deep breaths.

“Please tell me that was who I think it was because obviously, I’ve already given him one of the best cabins we have. I mean, they’re all good, but this one has great views of the hills and is privately secluded given who he is. He’s near Spencer Cook’s cabin. I wonder if they know each other?” Harley keeps talking like he’s had a shot of straight caffeine.

I finally manage to settle my heart rate back down to normal. Turning, I rest my hands on his shoulders, shaking him. “It was him. I can’t believe it. I honestly thought you and Hudson were playing a joke on me.”

“What about me?”

Harley and I spin toward Hudson, who has just entered the barn, and stares at us in confusion.

Hudson cocks his eyebrow. “It’s always you two up to no good, isn’t it? What have you done now?”

I smack his arm. “Guess who we have coming here?” I breathe excitedly, unable to control the thrill coursing through me.

Hudson’s gaze shifts from me to Harley and then back to me. “Well, who?”

“Sebastian King,” I whisper to refrain from screaming it and scaring all the people and animals.

Hudson crosses his arms and purses his lips into a thin line. “Nice try, you two.”

“No, Hud, we’re not kidding,” Harley says before spinning the computer screen in his direction.

Hudson leans in and reads the booking page. Slowly, his face morphs into something else. Those hazel eyes go wide, and his eyebrows shoot to the sky. “Oh… so you’re not kidding?”

Harley and I glance at each other, grinning stupidly. I do a little dance on my toes, the excitement uncontrollable.

I turn back. “Not kidding, and is it true you have Spencer Cook, the quarterback, staying here?”
