Did he seriously just call me princess?I scoffed at the sleazy smirk on his face. This guy was an absolute fuckwit. If this was the typical SEAL, then I wasn’t interested at all.

“Get away from me.”

“Come on, princess. It’s not like you can afford to be picky.”

When his eyes roamed over my body with barely disguised disgust, I felt my chest grow heavy. I blinked back tears that threatened to fall as I shoved him. I barely moved the blockhead, his body was that solid. I felt trapped, I felt humiliated, and if I didn’t get out of here right now, I was going to make a fool of myself and break down in front of all of these strangers.

“Get the hell away from me!”

Where the hell were my so-called friends when I needed them?

“Hey! You heard the lady. Leave her alone.” The same guy who’d saved me before stepped between me and the guy. He kept me behind him and rested his hand on the guy’s chest.

The guy held his hands up. “Come on, Logan. I was only trying to have some fun with her.”

“It doesn’t look like she wants to have fun with you, Sketch. Leave her be. Go and find someone else to spend some time with, as long as they want to.”

This Sketch guy obviously knew when he was defeated and backed off. With a shake of his head, he disappeared into the crowd.

My rescuer turned to me. “Are you okay?”

I didn’t risk speaking and allowing him to hear the tremble in my voice, so I simply shook my head.

He rested his hands on my shoulders. “You’re safe now.”

I didn’t feel safe. I never would in a place like this.

Lily broke through the crowd and threw her arms around me. “Oh, my God. Aria, are you okay?”

I pushed her off me. “Where were you?”

“I—” Lily’s mouth dropped open.

“You were hooking up. You were so busy doing that, that you and Zoey forgot all about me. You didn’t have my back at all. Story of my life. Have fun without me.” I adjusted the bag on my shoulder and pushed away from the bar.

“Aria, wait!” Lily called after me.

I ignored her and fought my way to the exit. I spilled out onto the footpath, quite literally. As I stumbled over my feet, I dropped my purse and everything spilled out. I knelt to retrieve my belongings as the tears finally broke. I threw my money and emergency tampons back into my bag and gripped the tube of mascara in my fist as I let it all out.

“I think this belongs to you, as well, Aria.” I glanced up to find Logan squatting in front of me, holding out my inhaler.

I quickly wiped the tears off my cheeks and took my medication from him. “Thank you. Thank you for everything. You helped me out a lot tonight.”

He smiled kindly. “It’s no problem.”

I lowered my gaze to my lap. “Now you must think I’m a big baby.”

“Why would I think that?” Logan laced his long fingers together. “Sketch was a jackass. You have every right to be upset.”

I sighed.

“I’m Logan.”

I pushed a long curly lock of my red hair behind my ear. “Aria. But I guess you already figured that one out.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Aria.” Logan glanced back at the bar. “You don’t seem like the kind of woman who would usually frequent this kind of place.”

“I’m not.” I stared up at the entrance to the bar. “It’s my first American vacation since moving here from Australia, and my friends insisted I’d have fun. I suppose it’s more their kind of fun than mine. I’m not the hook up type.”
