“Hi, ladies,” Joe said.
The three of them looked at Natalie.
“We have a visitor?” Zoey asked.
“Yep. Lee, these are my roommates Lily and Zoey, and their friend, Joe.” I pointed to each person in turn.
They all greeted one another.
“You’re absolutely welcome to share our food, just not our ice cream sandwiches that are in the freezer, since we only got one each,” Lee said.
“Oh, and Lily, you’re going to have to crash in Zoey’s room since I gave Natalie your room for the night. Don’t hate me.” I grinned at her.
“Funny enough, I don’t have a problem with that.” Lily rested her hands on my shoulders and snagged a piece of chicken from my plate.
“What’s on the box?” Zoey asked as she plonked herself down beside me, causing myself and Lee to have to shift over.
Joe claimed the single armchair and pulled Lily down into his lap.
“I’m thinkingThe Kissing Boothsounds fun,” Natalie suggested.
“Perfect,” I agreed.
“I’m down for that,” Lily said, putting on as deep and gruff a voice as she could.
“Is that what I sound like?” Joe teased her.
Lily laughed and pecked his lips.
I glanced at Zoey, keeping an eye out on any jealousy that might be floating about, but the smile on her face was as big as Lily’s.
I said nothing as the film started.
We ended up watching another lovey-dovey movie afterThe Kissing Booth, which also equalled dessert time. I was so full from the first course, that I was more than happy to split my ice cream sandwich into quarters to share with my roomies and their man.
Natalie clicked the TV off when the credits of the second movie began to scroll. “Well, this was great. Two super-fun movies accompanied by super-fun people. It’s bedtime for me. Are you sure it’s okay for me to crash in your room, Lily?”
“Definitely. I won’t be needing it,” Lily said with a wave of her hand.
“Thank you so much. Goodnight.” Natalie waved at us all as she disappeared into Lily’s bedroom for the night.
Joe stood and set Lily on the floor. “If you’ll excuse me, might I use your shower?”
“Go ahead,” Zoey said with a nod.
Joe placed a kiss on Lily’s forehead, then bent down and kissed the top of Zoey’s hair.
I averted my gaze and played with Mama’s ears.
“So, Natalie seems nice,” Lily said as she knelt in front of me, beside Mama.
“Yeah, she is.”
“How do you know her?” Zoey asked.
“She’s Logan’s cousin’s wife, and she also works for the same company Logan does,” I explained.
Zoey leaned forward. “Does she know what’s going on with Logan?”
