Ruben frowned. “He’s very hot and cold, isn’t he?”

“I think he’s afraid of his feelings. I think what happened to Riva and me over the weekend scared the shit out of him, and it made him realize how much he cares about me. Ruben, remember Augustus apparently doesn’t have relationships.”

Ruben’s expression darkened. “Give him more time with me, and I’ll get him to change his mind. I’ll even give him a lesson on how to treat you.”

“Ooh, Ruben, I love this side of you.” I shivered. “It’s so sexy.”

“Purely looking out for my lady, that’s all. But I confess, I would like to teach him a lesson he’d never forget. No violence involved unless it’s kinky.” Ruben slapped his thigh.

“He really turns you on, huh?”

“Yes, he makes me incredibly horny.”

“Me too.” I reached the top of the stairwell and found Cruz waiting at my door for the second time in three days.

Okay, that was weird.

“Ahh, Rubie, I’m gonna have to go. Cruz is here.”

“Cruz?” Ruben questioned.

“You know, Aug’s brother, the musician?” I clarified.

“Ahh, right. I’ll let you go.”

We ended the call, and I stopped in front of the handsome frontman. “Good morning, Cruz.”

“Sienna.”

I heard a crinkle and saw him scrunching up an envelope in his fist.

“Is everything okay?”

“I suppose that depends on your version of okay.”

“What have you got there?” I pointed at the letter.

Instead of directly answering me, he asked, “Will you be my date?”

I was taken aback. “For what?”

Cruz finally tore the letter from its envelope and handed it to me. I unfolded the beautiful, thick paper embossed with a family crest and read through what turned out to be an invitation.

Dearest friends and family,

The family of Lord Harold Jacob Louis Huntington, Earl of Yorkshire

I folded the invitation back up. “I’m guessing you’re Christian?”

“No, my name is Cruz,” he snapped. In the next moment, he sighed and dropped his shoulders. “My birth name is Christian.”
