“You turned tricks?” she asked. “But you’re so—good,” she assessed. He could hear the shock in her voice and he chuckled. She did believe him to be so much better a person than he was.

“You have too much faith in me, Cat,” he said. “I did what I needed to do to survive and I’d do it all again too. Maybe that’s why I can’t fight this connection to you anymore.”

“Because you feel a link to the person I am?” she questioned.

He shrugged, “Sure,” he agreed. “And, I can see the person you could be. Hell, I was nothing, Cat. I was a stupid kid who took risks and did some dangerous shit. Then, one day I woke up and decided I wanted more for myself. I wouldn’t change who I was or what I did to get by. I won’t be ashamed of my past but I refuse to let it decide my future.”

“Ahh—so, that’s where your job offer comes into play, Repo,” she said. “You’re trying to give me options to be a better person?” She almost sounded as though she was accusing him of something and his red flags were going up.

“It’s not like that, Honey,” he said.

“Well, then, how about you tell me what it is, Repo,” she spat. Yeah, she was pissed.

“I offered to teach you the ins and outs of being a bail bondsman because I want to keep you close to me, Cat. Hell, I don’t care about your fucking past or making you a better person. I just want you to agree to stay with me,” he insisted. Cat opened her mouth as if she wanted to protest and he covered it with his hand.

“Before you go and accuse me of wanting to keep you around for the payoff—you’re wrong. Maybe that’s what this started out being but it’s changed, for me at least. Tell me it’s changed for you too, Cat,” he breathed. He could feel her smile under his big hand and when she nodded, Repo slowly pulled his hand free from her lips.

“It has for me too, Repo,” she admitted. “I was just afraid to tell you because I worried that you’d turn me down again.”

“I’m done with denying us both, Cat. I want you and I don’t give a fuck about the consequences.” Repo framed her face with his hands and hesitated just a breath away from her full, pouty lips. He wasn’t about to force himself on her but God, he wanted to.

First, he needed to know one thing. “Tell me you’re done with that life, Cat,” he almost begged. “I won’t share you with anyone else, Honey. If you can’t make me that promise then this stops here,” he said. It sounded like he was giving her an ultimatum or making a threat and maybe he was but the thought of anyone else putting their hands on Cat pissed him off.

Cat didn’t seem to flinch at his demands. He worried that she’d hesitate with her answer but when she didn’t, he could feel his damn heart beating like it was going to thump right out of his chest.

“I’m done,” she whispered against his lips. She pulled her cell phone free from her back pocket and handed it to him. “You’ll need to hold onto this then,” she said, thrusting the phone at him. He took the phone from her and looked it over.

“You want to give me your phone?” he asked.

“Yeah,” she breathed. “I keep getting text messages from clients wanting to know when I’ll be back here for a call. If we’re going to make this work, you’re going to need to hold onto my phone for me.”

“Are you afraid that you’ll be tempted to take a job?” he asked. If that was the case, this thing between them wouldn’t work. He didn’t want to have to force her to accept his terms. He needed her to want to give up that life, if not for him then for herself.

“No,” she quickly said. “When I say I’m going to do something or in this case, not do something, I stick to my word. But, I need you to believe me. I want your trust, Repo and this is me giving you a symbol of my trust in return.” He opened up his glove compartment and shoved her phone in.

“We’ll go out tomorrow to get you a new phone,” he promised.

“You don’t have to do that, Repo. I don’t have anyone else I need to stay in contact with besides you and I’m constantly with you.” Repo smiled and kissed her. He loved that she didn’t want to talk to anyone but him but she was forgetting one major issue.

“You’ll need to call and give the courthouse your new number. Otherwise, they won’t be able to call you back in. I’ll give it to your new lawyer too. He should be able to reach you directly,” Repo insisted.

“Thanks,” she whispered. “I just wish this whole mess was behind me.” He did too. He wanted Cat to be free and clear from her past. Repo just hoped like hell she’d want him to be a part of her future—whatever that looked like.

“It will be soon enough,” he said although he had no right to make her such a promise. He had no idea what was going to happen next. All Repo knew was that he wanted her and not taking her was going to prove impossible. He had pushed her away for two weeks now and his cock wasn’t willing to wait another minute.

“I need you, Cat,” he growled. He helped her straddle his jean-clad erection and when she rubbed her pussy against him, he could feel her heat through her jeans.

“I want you too, Repo,” she said. She looked around the parking lot as if she was expecting an audience but the place was pretty dead tonight.

“They’re all inside for church,” he said. Repo pulled her down and sealed his mouth over hers loving the way she sighed against his lips. She wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened their kiss.

“You taste so fucking good, Honey,” he breathed.

“You too, Repo,” she said. He loved the way she seemed a little out of breath from everything he was doing to her. “Help me out of my jeans?” she asked. Repo hesitated. Did he want their first time to be in the cab of his pick-up truck? “Don’t overthink this, Repo,” she said.

“I just picture our first time to be—well, a little different than you and me fumbling around in my pick-up, Honey,” he admitted. “You deserve more than a quick fuck.”

She stroked down his cheek with her small hand, cupping his jaw. “That’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me,” she whispered. “We can take our time when we get back to your apartment, Repo. Please, just fuck me now.”
