He broke their kiss leaving them both breathless. “I know it’s not necessary but I want to. Besides, I need a few things myself, if we’re going to get dressed up. If you haven’t noticed, Honey, I’m not much of a fancy dresser. I’m more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy,” he admitted.

“Yeah,” she said. “But, I kind of like the way you look in your jeans and t’s.”

“Noted,” Repo said. “Now, let’s go to bed so we can get an early start tomorrow. We have a full day of shopping and then a date to go on.” Repo watched as Cat climbed out of the bathtub and he did the same, grabbing a towel to wrap her in. She wrapped it around her body and walked into the master bedroom, stripping from her towel to slip into his bed. Yeah, he was going to try to keep her for as long as possible, and then he’d fight like hell for more time with her because letting her go wasn’t an option for him.

* * *

Repo woke earlythe next morning and stretched. Cat slept curled into his body and when she didn’t stir, he decided to let her get some extra sleep while he made a few calls. He was able to put feelers out yesterday when they got to Gatlinburg but it was time to get some answers about her mother. He also had the little matter of coming clean with Savage to handle. He owed his club’s Prez that much and so much more. Savage had saved his life more times than he could count and having to admit that he was walking away from Savage Hell, from the men he had come to think of as brothers, felt like he was taking a knife to his chest.

“Yeah,” Savage barked into the phone. “This better be good Repo.”

“Good to hear your voice too, Savage,” Repo said.

“We just fucking talked yesterday. You woke me up and so help me if you wake any of the kids, I will drive to your fucking cabin and beat your ass.” Repo chuckled at the “shushing” noises he heard coming from the other and of the call.

“Sorry,” Repo lied. “I just needed to check in to see if you and the guys came up with anything on Cat’s mom yet?”

Savage sighed into the phone, “Well, the information was true. Her mom did pass a few days ago. I’m sorry, man.”

“How did she die?” Repo asked. He knew it would be what Cat wanted to know. She had wondered about it last night over their cozy little dinner for two in bed and he told her he’d try to find out details for her.

“She had been sick for some time and this is the part that sucks.” Savage paused and Repo could hear him rustling around on the other end. “Sorry, man,” Savage whispered. “I didn’t want to wake Bowie and Dallas. I’m in the kitchen now and can talk more.”

“Sorry again about calling so early,” Repo said.

“Not a big deal,” Savage said. “Cat’s mom would have been fine if she had gotten medical attention earlier. The medical records that Ryder got a hold of showed that she could have beaten it if she’d gotten help. He said it was some form of cancer but she never got any help. Hell, she probably didn’t know she was sick until it was just about too late—poor woman. If Cat wants to go home for the funeral, I’m afraid it’s too late. Her mother was cremated without much fanfare or a service of any kind. I’m sorry. That’s all I have to report man. You guys good?”

“Yeah, I just have some shit I need to get off my chest,” Repo said. He wasn’t sure how the hell he was going to tell Savage that he was leaving the club and Huntsville to start over with Cat in Tennessee.

“I get it, man—you like this woman, Repo. She’s become important to you and you want answers. I felt the same way about Bowie and Dallas when I first met them. It’s hard to put into words how it knocks you on your ass when you find the person, or in my case, people, you are meant to be with. It sure did me.” Repo wanted to tell Savage that he was way off base about what he had going on with Cat but he couldn’t. He wouldn’t outright lie to one of his best friends.

“I promised Cat some answers,” he said. God, he sounded like a defensive dick and Savage knew exactly what he was doing. Repo was deflecting, denying, and running from the truth.

“You’ll get there, man. I know it’s hard to admit when everything’s so new but take some advice from someone who knows you better than most people?” he asked.

“No,” Repo grumbled. Savage’s laugh rang through the phone and Repo held it out and studied it as if it had offended him in some way. “Fine—let’s have it then.”

“Just give her a chance to get to know you, Repo. You’re a good guy—deep down. I mean, really deep, deep down,” Savage teased.

“Thanks for that,” Repo spat.

“No, in all seriousness, man, I think you deserve some happiness, and what if she can give that to you? What if Cat’s the person for you and you’re so closed off that you miss your chance. Don’t miss your opening, Repo.” Savage stopped talking and for just a minute, Repo thought he dropped the call.

“You there, man?” Repo asked.

“Yeah,” Savage said. Repo took a deep breath and let it out. It was now or never and if he didn’t tell Savage his plans now, he might chicken out altogether.

“I do have one last thing I need to talk to you about,” Repo said. He cleared his throat and decided to just barrel through it. “I’m moving to Gatlinburg full time, Savage. I always planned to move here and live in my cabin year-round but never found a good enough excuse to. I have one now—Cat and I could both use a fresh start, man.”

“What about the club and your life here in Huntsville?” Savage questioned.

“I love you guys,” Repo said. “You’re my brothers but I need to do this. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. This place feels like home to me. You know my past and where I’ve come from, man. I’ve never really had a home and I think it’s about damn time I put down some roots.”

“With Cat?” Savage questioned.

“Yeah,” Repo breathed. “If that’s what she chooses. And, I’m going to do everything in my fucking power to help her decide that this is right. We’re right together.”

“Good for you, man,” Savage said. “I’ll text you the information for our sister club over there and you can get in touch with Ace. He’s the Prez of the Smokey Bandits. They are our sister charter of the Royal Bastards and I’m sure he’ll have no problem making the patch transfer. I’ll call him this morning to put in a good word.”

“Thanks, man—for everything,” Repo said.

“No problem, Repo. I’ll be in touch as soon as we hear anything else about Cat’s mom. Be careful, man, and remember what I said,” Savage ordered as if Repo would be able to forget any of his friend’s little speech about letting Cat in. If he was being honest with them both, he already had let her not only into his life but also into his heart.

“Will do, Savage. Thanks,” Repo said, ending the call. It was time to wake up his woman and tell her the news about her mom. Then, he hoped like hell she’d still want to spend the day with him and go on their date because it was all he could think about. It was time for him to come clean with Cat about his feelings—all of them and let the chips fall where they may. He was tired of waiting for life to happen for him. It was time for him to take what he wanted and the hell with the rest of it.
