“I wasn’t in the ladies' dressing room,” he lied. “I took a wrong turn looking for the men’s room.” The woman eyed him suspiciously and walked away from him and Repo shot Cat a wolfish grin, causing her to giggle. Yeah, she was looking forward to their date. Cat was sure Repo wouldn’t disappoint her in any way.

For the firsttime in her life, Cat had butterflies in her tummy. Actual fluttering butterflies and she wasn’t sure what to do about them. She was sure that they had everything to do with the sexy biker dressed like a complete gentleman in a suit and tie to boot.

“You look so handsome,” she said as she came down the steps to meet him. His shy smile nearly made her damn heart stutter. Repo usually lived up to his badass persona that when she caught glimpses of his vulnerable underbelly, it made her swoon like a schoolgirl.

Repo took her hand and helped her down the last two steps. She was starting to rethink the high heels he had talked her into. Sure, they were sexy as fuck but she couldn’t walk in them to save her life.

“You look hot as hell, Baby,” he growled. She stepped into his body and let him wrap her in his arms. God, he even smelled good. “You keep looking at me like that though and we won’t leave the damn cabin.”

Cat playfully pouted at him and he swatted her ass, “Later,” he promised. “Right now, we have dinner reservations. Shit, just saying the word reservation makes me feel like a damn responsible adult.” Cat giggled and nodded.

“This whole evening makes me feel like—well, not myself. It’s a good thing though. Nice to forget about all the shit going on in my life and just have fun. I’ve never had that kind of carefree life, you know?”

Repo nodded. He had told her about his life after his mom died and she knew that he hadn’t had a carefree life either. But, Repo had made something of himself and she was determined to prove to both herself and him that she could too.

“I get it,” he said. “So, how about we go on our carefree, adult date?” he crooked his arm for her to take and she wrapped her arm around his.

Repo was acting the perfect gentleman from the way he helped her into the cab of his pick-up to the way he held her chair out for her at the restaurant. She slipped into the chair and smiled up at him. “Thank you,” she said. She looked around the steakhouse he had chosen and suddenly felt very out of place. Cat fidgeted with her napkin and place setting. There were more forks and spoons than she was used to being on one table and she wished she had some idea what each was used for.

“Hey,” Repo whispered, taking her shaking hand into his own. “You good?”

Cat quickly nodded, not wanting to let on that she felt so out of place but she was also sure Repo could see through her. “I’m just feeling like I might not belong here,” she whispered back.

“Bullshit,” he growled. “You belong by my side and that’s all there is to it, Honey.” He looked up to the waiter who was waiting them out. “We’ll take a bottle of your best wine and I’ll have whatever is on draft,” he said. The waiter nodded and handed them their menus. He went over the specials and disappeared from their table. Cat smoothed her hands down her thighs, worried that her dress was entirely too short. She looked around the crowded restaurant sure that she was garnering unwanted stares from the other patrons who were silently judging her and it was taking all her willpower not to panic and run out of there like a fucking coward.

“You want to leave, Cat—just say the word and we can. But, you are perfect,” Repo promised.

“I—I just feel like everyone is watching us,” she loudly whispered.

“Can you blame them?” he asked. “We are a good looking couple.” Repo puffed out his chest, making her giggle. “There’s my girl.” Cat could feel her blush at his praise. What was it about this man that made her want to do better—to be better? Hearing him call her, “His girl,” made her feel a sense of pride that was just ridiculous but that’s what it was. She was proud to be with Repo and tonight just drove that fact home for her.

“Thank you,” she said.

“For?” he asked.

“For everything, really. Tonight is perfect and I’m just the luckiest woman in the world that you asked me to be your first date, Repo,” she admitted.

He reached for her hand again and she slipped hers across the table to take his. “And, I’m the luckiest fucker in the world that you agreed to let me be your first date, Cat.”
