Beck

Slater pulled the back door of the SUV open and helped her out. Beck couldn’t look the guy in the eyes knowing that he had probably just heard her screaming out Knox’s name when she came for him. She wasn’t sure that she’d be able to look Slater in the eyes ever again, which would make working with him even more difficult. This was the reason why she didn’t want to get involved with her boss. Beck would constantly be looking over her shoulder, worried that her coworkers would see her differently if they found out that she was fucking her boss. She had worked too hard to get to where she was and having sex with Knox, even for one glorious night, might ruin that for her.

“That will be all, Slater,” Knox said. “See you in the morning.” He grabbed Beck’s hand and pulled her onto the private elevator that she assumed would lead up to his apartment.

“I thought that Slater lived with you,” she said.

“He does,” Knox said, pushing her up against the mirrored wall.

“Where will he stay then?” she asked.

“In his wing of my penthouse,” Knox said.

“You’re in the penthouse?” she questioned.

“Yes,” Knox kissed his way down her neck and she was finding it hard to think of her next question.

“Which means that we have a few extra minutes for this,” he breathed, kissing her. Beck wrapped her arms around his neck and he lifted her against his body, helping her to hike up her skirt so she could wrap her legs around his waist. When Beck heard his zipper and then felt his cock pressing against her panties, she knew she was holding her breath. Knox reached between their bodies and pulled her panties to the side, sliding into her body without much warning. God, he felt good.

Beck cried out when he started moving, pulling out of her body and slamming back into her pussy. He wasn’t gentle and she loved it. Knox held her ass in his big hands and she knew that she’d wear his marks in the morning, but it was worth it. He was everything that she hoped that he’d be and so much more. Beck loved his control, his passion, and especially his need for her. She might have protested the way he insisted that they were a couple, but she wanted all the strings that she said she didn’t, not that she’d ever admit that to him.

“You feel so fucking good, Honey,” he breathed against her lips.

“You do too, Knox,” she admitted.

“I’m not going to last,” he groaned.

“That’s okay,” she breathed. “I’m not either.” He pumped in and out of her body, setting a punishing pace and when she shouted out his name again, he lost himself deep inside of her. Every little whispered praise from him felt like a balm to her soul.

Knox lowered her down his body and she pulled her skirt back in place in time for the elevator doors to open. He righted his clothes and followed her off the elevator as Beck looked around his place. When she realized that his entry foyer was bigger than her entire apartment, she couldn’t help her laugh.

“What’s funny?” he asked.

“Your hallway is bigger than my entire crappy apartment,” she said. “This place is fantastic,” she whispered. He shrugged as if it wasn’t a big deal that he lived in what she’d consider a palace.

“I like my space and well, I’m fortunate that I can afford it. I won’t apologize for the way that I live, Beck,” he said. The last thing she wanted to do was to piss him off or make him feel bad about how he lived.

“That’s not what I meant, Knox. I’d never try to make you feel bad for having this fantastic place. I guess that I just wasn’t expecting it to be so—much,” she breathed. “You’re right,” she said. “You should never feel bad about what you have. You and Ace worked hard to get to where you are. I know that he came from nothing and that the two of you built your casino from the ground up.”

“That’s true,” Knox agreed. “I was in the same position as Ace. We were best friends for so much longer than we’ve been business partners. We’ve known each other most of our lives and then joined the Smokey Bandits together, and well, we both dreamed big. The casino was what we both wanted and when we were lucky enough to land a loan, we started growing our little empire. Now, we’re about to open our second casino and well, money isn’t a problem anymore,” he said, opening his arms wide as if proving his point.

“I can see that,” she said. “You worked so hard, you deserve this and more. Growing your business has helped so many people in the community. You’ve given people jobs and health insurance when they might not have been able to find either. You and Ace are good bosses and your employees are so lucky to be working under you.”

“I didn’t bring you here to kiss my ass, Beck. I don’t need a pep talk or for you to build my ego,” he said.

“That’s not what I was doing,” she breathed. “Listen, I’m fucking this all up. Maybe I should just head home.” She wouldn’t stick around where she wasn’t wanted and Knox certainly acted as if he didn’t want her around right now. He was treating her as if she was a nuisance. Maybe he was only looking for a quick fuck in his elevator and that thought hurt her feelings, but she deserved it for insisting that they were just two friends casually fucking—no strings attached.

He grabbed her arm and pulled her against his body. “No,” he growled. “I’m the one who’s fucking this up. I’m pissed and I’m taking it out on you. Forgive me?” he asked.

She nodded. “What are you pissed about?” she asked, not sure that she wanted to know, judging from the angry scowl on his handsome face.

Knox put his hands on his hips and stared her down. “I’m pissed at myself because I don’t think that I can keep my promise and not break your rules,” he admitted.

“What do you mean?” she asked. “You said you were fine with all the rules at dinner.”

“Right,” he breathed. “But, that was before I made you mine,” he said. She opened her mouth to protest that she wasn’t his, but he held up his hand and covered her mouth. “Just hear me out, Beck,” he begged. How could she not? He was about to tell her that she belonged to him in some way and that thought both thrilled and terrified her at the same time.

“When I first met you, I thought that I was the luckiest son-of-a-bitch on the planet. You were a perfect fit as my assistant. Smart—hell, you're fucking brilliant. I didn’t know how lucky I got by hiring you until I checked into your job history and found out that you’re a paralegal. You are way over qualified to be my assistant and I was actually going to tell you just that and let you go.”
