“I think that’s what he wanted,” Jackson said. “And really, so far it feels like it. I mean…all this food and seeing all the kids running around…it’s wild seeing a whole new generation enjoying this place.”

“Pops would have loved it,” Peyton said, resting her head on Ryder’s arm.

“Pops would have loved what?” Parker asked as she strolled over with her fiancé, Ethan.

“The next generation of Colemans and company running around the yard,” Peyton told her. “Remember when we used to pick the flowers and make crowns for one another?”

“Oh my gosh! Yes!” Parker cried. “Mallory was always the best at making them. Where is she? Maybe we can get her to make some today!”

“We should probably check with Aunt Susannah first—and Sam. I’d hate to think we wrecked the garden,” Peyton said with a giggle.

“Fine, maybe later,” Parker said with a wink before facing Savannah. “So, how are you doing? I know I’ve seen you almost every day at the spa, but it’s all been so hectic. If you need some time off, please don’t hesitate to ask.”

“I’m doing okay,” Savannah replied. “Having a job and someplace to go has genuinely helped. I’m hoping to get back to a full schedule soon if you need me.”

“Need you?” Parker repeated with a laugh. “Are you kidding? People have been requesting you specifically, so whenever you’re ready, just let me know!”

It did Jackson’s heart good to see how vital Savannah was becoming to those around her. He loved seeing her finding her place here.

“I still need to make a trip back to Seattle to get the last of my stuff,” Savannah said. “We’re not in a huge rush over it, but I’m wondering if I should go sooner rather than later so that it’s just over and done with and I can focus fully on my job.”

“That’s totally up to you,” Parker replied. “Whatever you decide, there is always a place for you at Alloro.

“Um…I’m going to be a bit nosy,” Emma chimed in. “Have either of you started planning your weddings yet?”

“Us?!” Savannah cried. “I mean…no! We haven’t…there hasn’t been any time and…we’re not in that place yet. So…”

“Uh, yeah, I was talking to Parker and Peyton,” Emma said with a grin. “But good to know where you two are at.”

Groaning, Savannah buried her face against Jackson. “Oh God…”

He held her close but couldn’t help but be amused.

“Ryder and I are set for April,” Peyton said with a blissful smile. “The house he purchased on the south end of town is truly magnificent and we’re going to have the wedding there.”

“Oh, that’s right!” Emma said. “That property is more like a resort. I bet it’s going to be beautiful.”

“The work is almost done on it,” Ryder explained. “And then we’re taking a two-week honeymoon.”

“Ooh…to where?”

“London, Paris, and Rome,” Peyton told them. “I can’t wait. It’s going to be amazing.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah…” Parker said with a dramatic sigh. “It’s going to be spectacular. Blah, blah, blah.” Then she smiled at all of them. “Ethan and I are opting for a December wedding. Between Austin and Mia’s wedding, and Jake and Mallory’s, and Aunt Susannah and Colton’s…I just fell in love with the idea.”

“Shouldn’t Ethan get a say in that?” Ryder said with amusement.

“Oh, I like it too,” he replied with a sweet smile that was directed at Parker. “And knowing how happy it makes Parker makes it that much better.”

“Aww…” That came from pretty much all the women.

“So…how is this all going today?” Peyton asked. “I get that it’s a traditional Coleman family cookout, but…is anyone getting up to talk, or is there any kind of ceremony?”

“I’m not really sure,” Jackson replied. “Your mom and Aunt Susannah are being pretty tight-lipped about all of it, so it’s anyone’s guess.”

“That’s a little strange,” Parker commented, as more people came over to offer their condolences.

Austin and Mia showed up a little while later—both looking a little frazzled, but were putting on brave faces after having left their newborn at home with a sitter.
