Her phone buzzed.
Immy:I can’t do this anymore. He’s never going to see me.
Maeve:You deserve someone who will see you. You are amazing. And you’ll find someone who isn’t an idiot.
Immy:You’re right.
Maeve:But don’t give up a job you love for it. And remember, Sampson, Isaiah, and Abe are there too.
Immy:Yeah. But Abe is being a bit odd. Isaiah keeps disappearing and Sampson is always on his phone. Guess I’m kind of lonely. I’ll get over it. Sure I can’t kill him, though?
Maeve:I’m sure. But if you put salt in his coffee and slime in his bed I wouldn’t blame you.
Immy:Love you.
Maeve:You too.
She went backto her messages with Jenner. It wasn’t exactly his fault. But she wished he could see how amazing Immy was. But he saw a little sister, not a love interest. Still . . .
Maeve:I’ve sorted it. But you don’t deserve Immy.
Jenner:I know, we’d be lost without her. She’s the best assistant ever.
Maeve shookher head and texted Isaiah. He was the most reasonable of the four of them.
Maeve:I just stopped Immy from quitting and leaving you guys.
Isaiah:Got it.
Okay,that was short. Even for him. She shook off their weirdness. She didn’t know how Immy put up with them. She’d have walked out on them ages ago. Although that didn’t mean she didn’t love them.
Finally, she opened the text from Gray.
Gray:How are the cramps?
She blushed.Why? Why had she told him that? Now, she was stuck in a spiral of lies.
Gray:Do you need anything?
Why washe sending her these texts? Oh God, did he suspect she was lying and that’s why he was sending them? To make her feel guilty and confess.
Lord, that was just evil.
She was going to change his nickname from Grumpy Bear to Evil Grumpy Bear.

Gray:I know a lot of things. But what do you think I know?
