Getting into a stall, she groaned as she saw the mess she was in.

Shoot. Taking off her cute shorts and panties, she sighed as she started cleaning herself up.

Great. Just great.

Tears dripped down her face, which annoyed her. This wasn’t something to cry over. There were far worse things in life happening to other people. She shouldn’t be crying over this.

Ridiculous.

“Maeve? Maeve, what’s wrong?” Gray called out.

She squealed. “Gray! This is the women’s toilets.”

“Think I care about that, girl?” he grumbled. “Open the door.”

“No! I’m on the toilet.”

“So?”

“Gray, there’s a line. This is it. This is the line.”

He sighed. “Girl, we all poop.”

“I’m not pooping!” But she was about to die of embarrassment. “Please, just give me a few moments. Actually, could you get me a change of clothes?”

There was a beat of silence. “Why do you need a change of clothes, girl?”

“I just . . . I just do . . . please.”

“Maeve,” he said gently. “Baby, you can tell me.”

Christ. She hated to think what he was imagining.

Just tell him, Maeve. He’s going to find out anyway.

“I have my period. It came on suddenly.”

“What? That’s not normal, right? You just had it.” There was alarm in his voice and she winced.

“I . . . I didn’t.”

“What do you mean?”

“I didn’t just have it. I lied before.”

Another beat of silence. Damn, he wasn’t happy with her.

“Little girl, you lied to me?”

“Yes, Daddy.”

“I am not happy with you right now.”

She let out a small sob.

Gray sighed. “Baby, don’t cry. Please. It’s not that bad, surely.”

“You’re . . . you’re disappointed in me.”
