He looks over his shoulder and smiles, and I ask, “So what do we do now?”

He furrows his brow, before turning to finish washing the final dish. “What do you mean?”

I shrug. “Like do we tell people? Do we wait?”

He drains the sink, taking a dishtowel and drying his hands with it as he turns to face me, leaning against the counter, his brow still furrowed. “Why would we wait?”

“I don’t know. In case this doesn’t work out.”

“Why wouldn’t it work out?” he asks, pushing off the counter and moving towards me until he is standing between my legs, his hands moving up and down my thighs. I answer, trying not to think about how nice it is to have him between my legs and how great his hands are, trying to focus on the matter at hand.

“I don’t know. You might have an abnormally long hairy toe.”

He raises his brows, clearly surprised, before stepping back a bit to look down at his bare feet before looking back up at me. “Do I have an abnormally long hairy toe?” I roll my eyes and he comes back to stand close again. “Would it matter if I did?”

I shrug, with a playful twinkle in my eyes. “Maybe.”

“Maybe?”

He laughs, but I still needed answers from him. A lot has happened over the past few months with a lot of hurt and hard times that I can’t just jump into this if I don’t know what this is. I can’t do that to myself.

My face turns serious as I reach up to place my hands against Riley’s stomach. “But seriously.”

Seeing my expression, humour leaves his eyes as he sighs, placing his hands on my thighs and rubbing small circles into them with his thumbs. “I’ll be honest. I want everyone to know you’re mine because you’re not the kind of girl someone hides.”

I feel each word hit me in the chest, seeing the meaning in his eyes as I realise that no one has ever said anything like that to me before, unless they wanted something. So I tease, needing to relieve some of the tension in this room. “You trying to get sex again?”

He raises a brow, moving closer, his voice low. “Who says I need to try?”

I cock my head. “You saying I’m easy?”

“No, just that you’re weak against my charms.”

“Modest,” I say, both of us smiling as he leans in, his lips grazing my neck with soft kisses, less intense from the night before but equally as good.

But even though I want to wrap my legs around him and have him take me here, there are still some things I want to clarify.

With his mouth still on my neck, I ask with my breathing a little heavy, “What about your parents?”

He freezes for a moment before pulling back to look at me with soft eyes. “You wanna meet them?”

I blink, thinking I might have misheard him because that was not the response I was expecting. “What?”

One corner of his mouth curls up as he says again, “Do you wanna meet them?”

I blink again. “Aren’t you supposed to panic at introducing me to your parents?”

“Why? I already told you that you are not the type of girl you hide.”

“So you would just introduce me to your parents?”

“Of course.” He gives me a small kiss. “They’d love you.”

I feel like letting out a breath of relief, not wanting to meet his parents tomorrow or anything, but knowing that he is willing to introduce me and show me off as his girlfriend makes this feel all the more real. I give him a small smile. “I’ve heard good things from Ava, so it would be great to meet them.”

He smiles and kisses me again, grazing my lip with his teeth playfully before I ask, “So what kind of girl am I? You said I’m not the kind of girl you hide. What kind am I?”

He grins, leaning in to kiss my cheek. “You are the kind that you hold close and never let go.” He kisses my neck again. ”One you treat like a princess.” He kisses my forehead. “One you are happy and proud to have beside you.” Then he kisses my lips with a brief kiss, before looking back and meeting my eyes with an earnest expression. “You are one of a kind, Mia.”
